ARE YOU A MATH MAGICIAN? (GR. 4-8)

Timed math facts help students master addition, subtraction, multiplication and division facts. This is an ad free site. Use this site to set goals for your students. Take their photos and set up a Wall of Fame in your class or in the principal's office to motivate your students!

Both of these sites have lots and lots of cool math games to stimulate students to learn math in a fun way. They are among the most popular educational websites in the United States.

CYBERCHASE (GR. 2-6)

CYBERCHASE, the math-mystery cartoon on PBS KIDS GO!, has a companion online game. CYBERCHASE: The Quest is a cutting edge interactive Web game that lets kids develop skills in Fractions, Geometry, Measurement, Money, Pre-Algebra, Problem Solving, Science and Engineering, Using Numbers and more. Also inlcudes printables.

GREAT TEACHER PROJECTS (TEACHERS GR. 3-8)

Laura Mayne, has been an elementary-school teacher for the past 27 years Her book "Great Teacher Projects" provides more than 75 tried-and-true, classroom-tested, teacher-approved projects designed for use in K-8 classes. Laura's publisher has allowed me to reprint a sample of her projects. This Math Olympics Project suitable for grades 3-8.

HOODA MATH (GR. 3-8)

This free site has math games, movies, tutorials and worksheets here to teach students. The timed tests shows students what problems then missed and the correct answers. There is an option here for test scores to be mailed to the teacher.

INTERACTIVE MATHEMATICS MISCELLANY AND PUZZLES (GR. 6-UNIVERSITY)

This is a huge site of mathematics related subjects and puzzles. It's been on the Internet since May 6, 1997 and still maintained and updated by Alexander Bogomolny. This is a great place to find anything associated with mathematics.

KHAN ACADEMY (GR. K-12)

There are over 3400 videos which cover K-12 math, science topics such as biology, chemistry, and physics, and playlists on finance and history. Each video is a digestible chunk, approximately 10 minutes long, and especially purposed for viewing on the computer.

offers a no cost math lessons, math problems, and automated tutoring in math as well as a premium option. This site is suitable for use by teachers, tutors and students.

MATH AND READING HELP FOR KIDS (PARENTS, TEACHERS)

Math and Reading Help for Kids is a directory of hundreds of original articles, tips, and resources centered on the topic of children's learning. This site has teamed up with the American Library Association to help parents make informed decisions about their child's education. There are also a comprehensive resources for teachers and students

MISUNDERSTOOD MINDS WEBSITE (TEACHERS, PARENTS)

For one in five students, learning is an exhausting and frustrating struggle. The "Misunderstood Minds" website includes strategies for addressing various learning difficulties, tools for educators and parents, background on current issues surrounding the topic, resources to learn more, and information on the five children profiled in the documentary and their families. An interactive feature called "Firsthand" provides a glimpse of what it may be like to have learning problems, such as difficulties decoding the components of words, problems with memory, or with the recall of basic math facts.

MORE THAN MATH (GR. 3-5)

More Than Math integrates the visual arts into the 3rd, 4th and 5th grade mathematics curriculum using works of art from the collection of the Asheville Art Museum as the basis for problematic mathematical tasks using NC Standard Course of Study goals and objectives. More Than Math introduces and explores concepts shared by mathematics and the visual arts such as pattern, symmetry, proportion, perspective, balance and geometric form and stresses the importance of each individual's perspective. Eight hands on interactive activities makes this an appealing site for students and teachers teaching math.

is an interactive website designed specifically for students in grades K ? 8. On you will find dozens of interactive games, activities, worksheets, and teacher tools that pinpoint essential skills. was created and developed by a teacher!

MULTIPLICATION..COM (GR. 4-8)

My fifth and sixth graders loved this site. It offers games, videos and printables to teach and practice multiplication facts.

NATIONAL LIBRARY OF VIRTUAL MANIPULATIVES (PRE-K12, TEACHERS)

A great math manipulatives website. There's a list of resources for grades PRE-K-12 and it's all free. The goal of the site is to engage students in the learning of Mathematics through the use of manipulatives, physical objects that help students visualize relationships and applications.

PROBLEM SOLVING STRATEGIES EXPLAINED FIFTY (GR. 4-UNIVERSITY)

A very comprehensive essay written by by John Malouff, J.D., Ph.D. Senior Lecturer, University of New England School of Psychology, Armidale, Australia.

There are great strategies to help you and your students: understand the problem, simplify the task, determine the cause of the problem, using external aids to help you identify possible solutions, using logic to help you identify possible solutions, using a possible solution as a starting point to help you solve a problem, determine which possible solution is best, function optimally while problem solving and solve multiple problems.

SMILE -- SCIENCE AND MATHEMATICS INITIATIVE FOR LEARNING ENHANCEMENT (GR. 9-12)

A collection of almost 200 single concept lessons. These lessons may be freely copied and used in a classroom but they remain the copyright property of the author.

The Mathematics lessons are divided into the following categories: Geometry and Measurement, Patterns and Logic, Probability and Statistics, Recreational and Creative Math, Practical and Applied Math, Arithmetic, Graphs and Visuals, Algebra and Trigonometry, and Miscellaneous.
