What to Bring to College
Welcome to your college experience! One of the first things that we suggest to get your year headed in a successful direction to contact your roommate and begin talking about what you are both planning to bring to college. There is nothing worse than having two fridges but no television; or two of everything. After talking to your roommate, remember to pack carefully. You will most likely not be able to bring everything you own and have it fit in your residence hall room. Therefore, you need to be smart when packing and remember to first pack everything you will need and then pack the things you will want. This way you will know what is necessary and what can wait until some space clears up. Also, it may be helpful to learn about the hall in which you are going to live as well as reading through the University Student Housing and Hospitality Services Contract Guide which you should have already received. This information is also available online at housing.ttu.edu. Furthermore, if you are knowledgeable about the hall into which you are moving, you will be able to know what resources are available to you, such as a community microwave or kitchen. This information may help you determine what you will bring and not bring as you pack. In this document, you will find a list of suggested items to make your year a success. If you have any questions regarding what you can and cannot bring, contact the University Student Housing at 806.742.2661. We hope these resources will provide a foundation for communication and learning. Also, remember that residence hall staff members are available to assist you with your questions or to sit down and help you and your roommate work through the roommate agreement.
