Position Objective: To effectively strategize, plan and implement the annual workplace campaign and yearround employee engagement initiatives raising maximum dollars to the United Way Community Fund. The individual will be responsible for cultivating individual donor relationships,

Nature and Scope of Responsibilities:

Primary manager and staff support for United Way annual Workplace Campaign.

Participates in the development of the campaign structure through which community-wide support for fundraising is achieved.

Ensures the success of the annual United Way workplace campaign by providing year-round leadership and support to the Campaign Chair.

Recruits, motivates, trains, and manages key workplace campaign volunteers.

Manages all staff and volunteers with campaign assignments in analyzing, organizing and executing the annual campaign effort.

Develops and executes yearly work plans for assigned campaign responsibilities.

Establishes performance measures, monitors results and produce evidence that demonstrates the effectiveness of the annual Workplace Campaign.

Maintains awareness of advancements in philanthropy and fund development, as well as the general fields of management and the not-for-profit sector.

Informs management and board volunteers of current workplace trends, issues, problems and activities in order to facilitate policy making. Recommends policy positions concerning fund development.

Cultivates support among community stakeholders for the purpose of acquiring new business and ensuring donor retention.

Serves as the liaison between Workplace Campaign and Marketing/Communications in the development of campaign branding/marketing/advertising materials.

Participates in ongoing, year-round, cultivation activities with volunteers and donors.

Serve as backup to other Campaign Managers as required.

III. Marginal Job Functions: o Assists Resource Development staff and Marketing staff with special initiatives to ensure organizational goals are achieved. o Serves as an ambassador for United Way in our community. Including, but not limited to attending events. o Misc. duties as assigned.

IV. Working Relationships: Directly with Manager, Workplace Campaign and Business Development, Dutchess County; Campaign Chair and future Chairs; Members of the Campaign Leadership Team (CLT) and other campaign volunteers; CEO's and other corporate leaders as well as workplace donors; United Way peers at the regional, state and national level; other key members of the community.

V. Performance Expectations The individual is expected to: plan and meet deadlines; maintain a flexible work schedule to meet the demands of the organization; consistently work to create a donor-centered organization and a culture of philanthropy; seek continuous professional development through reading the body of knowledge and staying current with research; participate in professional development opportunities; demonstrates initiative and work as a team player and consistently meets desired goals.

VI. Skills Required Strong customer relationship skills Solid public speaking experience Strong critical and strategic thinking skills as well as creative and innovative thinking Excellent written communication Strong project management skills with timely and consistent attention to follow-up Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment to accomplish team goals Ability to exercise good judgment, Proven record of establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with individuals and groups having diverse interests and backgrounds. Demonstrated leadership and experience motivating volunteers. Ability to analyze data and trends Extensive knowledge of computers and software, especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint and donor database applications.

VII. Experience Required Bachelors Degree with a concentration in public relations, communications, or a related discipline or an equivalent work history. Minimum 5 years experience in resource development with direct fundraising experience. Computer literacy with campaign and account management software systems is essential.
