Copying Files

Copying MT4 Files

from One MT4 Platform to Another

After you’ve set up your New MT4 platform, you can copy files from your old platform folders to like folders in your new platform. The easiest way to do this is to open 2 instances of Windows Explorer, with one showing the folders of the new/destination platform and the other showing the folders and files of the old/source platform. The following example illustrates this and also shows the folders that you might want to copy.

For all of the indicated folders except the profiles folder, you can move the entire contents of the folder. Highlight all of the files in the source folder and drag (use right mouse button) them to the corresponding destination folder as shown below. When asked if you want to copy or move, click Copy. When asked if you want to replace a file or files, click Yes to All. (You can highlight all files in the file window by single left clicking on the first file, then scrolling down to the last file and left clicking on it, while holding down the Shift key.)

In the case of the profiles folder, you will copy only the files from the subfolder (each subfolder has a profile name). If there is no corresponding subfolder under Velocity4x profiles, then you can drag that subfolder over (as shown in red, below).

You can also copy the entire contents of the config/email folder, replacing the contents of the destination config/email folder. The same is true for the experts/presets folder.

Setting up Fibonacci Retracement and Expansion parameters.

• Make a backup copy of the {Destination MT4 folder}/Config/terminal.ini file.

• Open the destination terminal.ini file.

• Find the line containing “[Objects]”. If the file does not contain this word

• Delete the data from that line to the end of the Fibo_ data.

• Paste the data that you copied to the clipboard into the area that you just deleted.

If there was no data to delete, then paste the data at a point preceding another [. . .],

like maybe [BarState_83].

• Save the file.

• Your done.

Now, when you draw a Fibonacci line, you will have retracement lines on your chart with expansion lines both above and below the retracement lines. It should look like this:
