3. Most what are built along major rivers?

4. Rivers have three courses. What are these three courses called?

5. Explain the following five words:

a. Confluence

b. Delta

c. Flood plain

d. Meander

e. Tributary

TASK 2

• Use a safe search engine to find the world’s longest rivers.

• Open Microsoft Word. Use the menu on the top of the page. Click Table, Insert > Table.

• Next, decide how many rows and how many columns you want your table to have. Click Ok.

• Use the information on the world’s longest rivers to make your own table of information.

• Give it a title.

• Highlight the information and change the type of font.

• Ask a teacher to check if you can print it out.

TASK 3

Find a map of the World which shows the world’s rivers. Using a blue coloured PENCIL mark the major World Rivers onto your map.

TASK 4

• Look at this website:





• Find the ‘River Features’ area of this page. Use this area to find a picture of the water cycle.

• Copy this picture and paste it into Microsoft Word.

• Give the page a title.

• Underneath the picture, type out 3 facts about the MAIN features of the water cycle.
