Baseball, Class of 1998

Upon his graduation in 1998, Corey Patterson had already established a permanent

athletic legacy at Harrison.

Over the course of his four years on the

Varsity Baseball team, Corey had become the holder of 16 out of 20 Harrison

baseball records ¡ª all of which he still holds today and many are likely never to be

broken. He led the 1998 team to win the quad-A State Championship, Harrison's

first ever team state championship. His high school career batting average was

.458, including a .528 average in his senior year including 22 homeruns that year ¨C

a statistic that is rare. He tallied a total of 192 runs scored and 184 hits.

He received a full scholarship to Georgia Tech, but a professional career emerged

when he was selected by the Chicago Cubs as the third overall pick in the 1998

Major League Baseball Draft. He quickly rose through the ranks from single A ball to

the majors and made his major league debut in 2000. At the time of his induction

he was playing for the Baltimore Orioles.
