Course Summary: Finance 3403 is an introductory course providing an overview of the financial environment, investments, and corporate finance. The course introduces students to the terminology and tools of finance, including the time value of money, valuation, risk, and return. It examines the role of markets and financial institutions, as well as the financial management of the corporation.

Prerequisites and other requirements: (1) ACG 2021, ACG 2071, ECO 2013, ECO 2023, CGS 1100, MAC 2233, and STA 2023 each with a grade of C or higher; and (2) a hand-held financial calculator, such as the TI BAII PLUS.
Grading: Exams will consist of true-false, multiple choice, short essay, and mathematical problems. The course grade will be determined as follows:

Required Course Text: Fundamentals of Corporate Finance, Alternate, Fifth Edition, by Ross, Westerfield and Jordan, published by Irwin McGraw-Hill.
Policies & Guidelines:
1. Attendance: You should attend all class sessions, and be prepared to participate in discussion of the material to be covered. This includes our first class on January 15. If you must miss a session, you should obtain the notes from a classmate. You are responsible for knowing all material covered in class. That includes new material, assignments, exams, and changes to the syllabus.
2. Homework and Quizzes: Written responses to the assigned questions and problems from the textbook will be collected from time to time on the due date shown in this syllabus, and quizzes may be given to help ensure that students are keeping abreast of the material. Quizzes will cover material from the previous session as well as the current session.
3. Academic Integrity: Students are expected to do their own work on exams and assignments. Students will exhibit the highest ethical and moral standards while in class or participating in any class related activities.
4. Other: As a general rule, there will be no make-up exams. Special arrangements might be made only in the case of a documented real emergency or severe hardship which could not have been reasonably anticipated (i.e., serious illness or death in the immediate family).
5. Assistance: As a general rule, I will be available to meet with you individually before class. Other arrangements may be made by appointment.
6.
