1. All passengers must be in an approved seat and wearing a seat belt. No one is to ride in the back of the pick up truck.

2. No smoking in ASC vehicles.

3. Loose items that could be propelled into passengers should be tethered. Tethers should remain in the vehicle and not removed. Items may shift during transport and could fall when opening the door.

4. No one should jump from the back of any of the vehicles.

5. When backing up the driver should be looking in the direction that the vehicle is moving. If you are unable to clearly see where you are backing up, use a spotter.

6. When driving on sidewalks or in areas where there is likely to be pedestrians use care. The electric cars are very quiet; do not assume that pedestrians can hear you behind them. Cell phones and I pods may also impair pedestrians ability to hear back up alarms or a vehicle’s engine noise.

7. No cell phone, 2-way radios, or ear phones may be used while operating an ASC vehicle. Avoid other distractions such as eating or drinking, tuning the radio, or passengers.

8. Be aware of the size width and height of the vehicle loaded and unloaded. Know the weight limit the vehicle can carry. ( 3-6 major bridge strike every day in the US)

9. Allow the proper amount of time to get to the destination.

10. Follow all traffic laws and drive defensively

a. speed limits

b. come to a full stop

c. at green lights be aware of the traffic that should stop

d. don’t follow too closely

e. only pass on the left

f. use your turn signal when appropriate

11. No ASC driver should operate machinery while under the influence of alcohol, illegal drugs, or over-the-counter or prescription medication that interferes with or slows reaction time of motor skills or thought processing. Drivers experiencing excessive fatigue should not drive.

12. Drivers must report any medical conditions that may impair their ability to drive.

13. Control your emotions when operating a lethal weapon like a vehicle.

14. ASC vehicles are not for personal use.

15. Adjust driving for conditions – darkness, rain, ice, snow

16. Report all accidents as soon as possible to the Vehicle Administrator. Report all accidents involving damage to another vehicle, property, or person to the proper law enforcement agency. Do not leave the scene.

17. Drivers should report immediately any changes in the braking, tire pressure, steering, wipers or lights.

18. Only authorized ASC employees may drive ASC vehicles and all drivers should be trained by a supervisor or manager on how to drive each specific ASC vehicle. Review the Authorized Driver list.

19. All authorized ASC employee drivers must:

a. Have a DMV background check that meets our insurance company’s requirements for a safe driving record

b. Must be 21 years old and mature drivers should be evaluated for reasonableness of driving privileges

c. 3 years of full license driving experience

d. All approved drivers are monitored for the current license status and driving convictions

20. ASC drivers must notify ASC if they have major traffic violations on or off duty. Loss of driving privileges must be reported immediately and that individual is not allowed to drive ASC vehicles or for any work-related purpose.

21. No one under the age of 18 may drive, load, or unload a motor vehicle in the course of employment. This includes driving their personal vehicle for employment- related purposes.

22. No one is allowed to use the ASC fork lift or any other fork lift unless they hold the certification to use. The fork lift check list must be completed before it is used.
