Summary
Accountant provides financial information to management by researching and analyzing accounting data. Accountant is responsible for payroll processing, assisting with general ledger journal entries, assisting with accounts payable, assisting with accounts receivable, assisting with month-end closing activities, preparing balance sheet reconciliations, preparing month end reports, managing cost reporting and cost analysis for the Phoenix operations. Additionally, the Accountant will assist with various finance projects, as needed.
Strong technical accounting knowledge, analytical, organizational and communication skills are essential for the success of an Accountant. They should be detail-oriented team players and the ability to work independently, as needed. An understanding of manufacturing accounting is important to their work. Additionally, an Accountant needs strong interpersonal skills, as they work with a diverse number of people, such as executives, managers, vendors, customers and team members. Along with these crucial skills, it is important that the Accountant is able to:
• Recommend financial actions by analyzing accounting data
• Maintain accounting controls by following policies and procedures and recommend changes, if needed
• Guide accounting clerical staff by coordinating activities and answering questions
• Maintain financial security by following internal controls
• Prepare special financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends
Essential Functions
The Accountant is responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting of the Phoenix location, along with the accounting team. They are expected to maintain our business controls to ensure compliance to Sarbanes-Oxley.
1. Prepare month end Journal Entries
2. Prepare monthly Balance Sheet Reconciliations
3. Review manufacturing cost data and determine variance to plan and standards. This should be done, at a minimum, monthly with a goal of reviewing weekly with the operations team
4. Review other cost elements to plan and review variances
5. Prepare monthly financial reports and specialized reports, as needed
6. Assist with the weekly payroll process, working with the HR department
7. Assist with managing accounts payable invoices
8. Assist with managing accounts receivable invoices
9. Assist with annual budgeting process
10. Special Finance Projects, as required

Work Environment
The job operates in the office area of a manufacturing environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a salaried, exempt from overtime, full-time position. Regularly work in excess of 40 hours per week.
Travel
Moderate (less than 20%) is expected for this position
Required Education and Experience
1. B.S. / B.A. in Accounting or Finance
2. One to two year experience in accounting with experience in A/R, A/P, and payroll
3. Proficiency in ERP accounting/manufacturing systems
4. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
5. Strong attention to detail
