Creating a Weekly Sales Table

Creating a Weekly Sales Table

You have been hired by "Chocolates Are Us" to design a weekly sales record for customer orders. You will create your table in Microsoft Excel.

• Create a table showing:

o Items For Sale

o Cost of Item

o Number Sold For:

▪ Monday

▪ Tuesday

▪ Wednesday

▪ Thursday

▪ Friday

o Total Sold for the Week

• Use the table below as an example:

|Gift Item |Cost of Item |# Sold M |

HINT: This works better if you set the page to Landscape.

• Title your page in Row 1

• Key in the column and row headings (see example above for assistance) and make them stand out:

o Gift Item

o Cost of Item

o # Sold M

o # Sold T

o # Sold W

o # Sold TH

o # Sold F

o Total Sold for Week

• In the table below, you will find the items for sale.

o Key in short names to keep spacing at a minimum for gift names (example: chocolate cell phone could be listed just as phone)

o Key in the price of each gift under its appropriate column heading

|Gift Item: |Price: |

|Chocolate Cell Phone: |$ 11.95 |

|[pic] | |

|1 Dozen Chocolate Long Stem Roses:: |$ 39.95 |

|[pic] | |

|Chocolate Pizza: |$ 6.95 |

|[pic] | |

|Chocolate CD: |$ 7.95 |

|[pic] | |

|Chocolate Baby Shoes: |$ 9.95 |

|[pic] | |

|Chocolate Computer: |$ 6.95 |

• You should now input formulas that will calculate the number of each item sold for the week of Valentine’s and the amount of sales (or money) you’re your business took in on that item for the week.

• You will also need to calculate total sales for the week in a dollar figure that represents the sales of ALL products sold this week.

• Finally, create an appropriate chart that shows your total sales for last Valentine’s Day week so that the owner will be able to visually see the top seller, worst seller, etc., in order to make decisions for this year’s holiday. You should include appropriate data labels, titles, legend, etc. so that the owners can tell at a glance what is happening in their business during their busiest holiday.

• CHALLENGE: Include the pictures of your items in a cell in your spreadsheet.
