Planning Your Trip to CACFood/BeverageFood service at CAC: There will be fewer meals provided throughout the CAC meeting due to very high resort catering costs. Please note that there will be NO breakfasts provided at the meeting. Lunches will be provided on Wednesday and Thursday. There will be an opening reception Tuesday evening with substantial hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. There will be a closing banquet/reception also with a cash bar. Breakfasts on Your Own: The resort has a breakfast buffet for $48 as well as off-the-menu choices. There is a small market & coffee bar within the hotel with breakfast pastries. There are numerous breakfast options at the Shops at Mauna Lani that are very reasonably priced. There is also a grocery store at the Shops. The Shops are a 12-15 minute walk from the resort (or the bell hops may take you in a golf cart). See separate list of restaurant options. Lunch and Dinner Options: There are two restaurants at the Mauna Lani resort. See list of restaurants options within walking distance. Other: All Mauna Lani guest rooms have a good-sized refrigerator. There is a Costco a few miles south of the airport. There is a small grocery store at the Shops at Mauna Lani and a grocery store at the Queens Shops (about 15 min. drive). Grocery prices are substantially higher than on the mainland (but, Costco prices are similar). Travel on the IslandThe Mauna Lani resort is about 18 miles north of the airport. The resort does NOT have a shuttle. Uber/Lyft/Taxis: one-way prices to the resort will be about $50. Pick up is located at the median just across the street from the baggage claim area. Rental cars: Rental cars are located just off-site of the airport (1/4 mile). After getting your baggage, cross the street to the median. All rental car companies have shuttle vans that run continuously with pickups at the median. Currently, the Mauna Lani requires valet parking at $15/day. There is a possibility that free self-parking may be available by May. Resort RoomsAll rooms have espresso makers with espresso pods. All rooms have refrigerators.All rooms have clothes steamers, but NO irons. Bathtubs are available only in special needs rooms. See separate sheet for suggested alternate lodging options. Late CheckoutsMay be available, check with the hotel. The former spa (on property, but a short walk from the hotel) can be used for showering and changing for late departures. Child Care/Children’s ActivitiesThe Mauna Lani has their “Holoholo Kids Crew” on property. It is open from 9a-4p and accepts children 5-12 years old. Children 3-4 years old need to be with an adult 18yrs or older. Walk in or reservations are welcome. It is a complimentary service, you will only need to pay for your child's lunch. The Mauna Lani also utilizes an outside service called Malihini Keiki Care also known as MkCare. They do require you to contact them directly to make any child care arrangements. The Mauna Lani has new pool; an adults-only pool as well as a family pool. Hot tubs are located at the pools. The resort has a great beach with swimming and snorkeling available in front of the hotel. There is another excellent snorkel bay within a 5 minute walk past the fish ponds. There are plenty of lounge chairs on the beach – no need for your own chairs.Hiking/Running Trails. There are extensive trails through ancient fish ponds adjacent to the resort. The Mauna Lani Historic Park (within walking distance to resort) also has trails with petroglyphs. More extensive and rigorous hiking is available but will require transportation to reach trail heads (e.g., hiking to the Mauna Kea summit). Biking. Rental of expert road and tri bikes is available at Bikeworks Beach & Sports at the Queens Shops (808-886-5000) which is 15 minutes south of the Mauna Lani. Advance reservation is recommended.Bargain Water Sports Rentals. The Marriott Waikoloa (15 minutes south of resort) has a great deal on rentals through Ocean Sports. On Sundays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, you can rent any and all of their water sport equipment for $50 from 10-2. This includes paddle boards, aquabikes, snorkel gear, kayaks, canoes, boogie boards, floats, and a glass-bottom boat ride. The bay at the Marriott is a huge, calm bay that is perfect for water sports – Anaeho’omalu Bay. ................
