Part III: 1 persuasive essay
Write an essay in which you take a stand on an issue. You will use examples from the literature we have read and life to support your position. Be sure to identify the opposing view and give a counter argument. To prepare for this, revisit persuasive writing tips and checklist.

• Revisit the texts listed. Look at the pre and post reading information for hints about the literary devices used. Rereading the text may also give you added insight into the literary devices used.
Part II:
• Participate in the practice session in class. Reflect upon your strengths and weaknesses.
• Brush up on good test taking strategies, like process of elimination.
Part III:
• Reflect on persuasive papers in your portfolio. What are your strengths and weaknesses?
• Look at other sample papers that are done well.
• Use prewriting to organize and be sure to have examples.
• Use the persuasive writing checklist to ensure you include all elements of persuasive writing.
