His parents carried him to concerts, rodeos, fairs, and festivals where good country music could be heard. Whether listening to his Grandmother's old 45's or the 8-tracks in his Aunt's car, it was Haggard, Jones, Buck, and Conway. Britt Ballenger grew up listening to the sounds of Bob Wills, George Strait, and Merle Haggard, but he had no idea music would become such a great part of his life. While attending Stephen F. Austin State University, Britt began to show interest in performing. In 1998, his parents bought him a brand new Gibson electric guitar and amp. Soon after, he began guitar lessons and singing on the Texas Opry circuit. Some of the venues he played during those early years were the Crawfish Festival in Spring, Houston's KILT Radio Stage at the Strawberry Festival in Pasadena, and the Johnny High Country Music Revue in Arlington. After a six-month stint in Nashville, where he worked at the legendary Ernest Tubb Record Shop, Britt returned home to finish college and play music.
