26th Annual Convention

December 2-4, 2009 ? Hilton at Easton Columbus, Ohio

On behalf of our Board of Trustees and Staff, it is my pleasure to release the Preliminary Program for the 26th Annual Convention. This year's Convention will be held Wednesday - Friday, December 2-4, 2009 at the Hilton at Easton on the Northeast side of Columbus. As always, we are pleased to present a variety of tracks that will enable you to attend many interesting and diverse sessions. In addition to our usual tracks, we have added a nursing and consumer track to our schedule.

At the 2007 and 2008 Convention, we held a Vendor Show & Sale, which displayed the products made by individuals with developmental disabilities from all over the state! We are proud to sponsor the 3rd Annual Vendor Show & Sale to take place on Thursday, December 3rd in the Easton Grand Ballroom. This is a great way to shop for early holiday gifts while enjoying the company of other conference attendees.

The Annual Delegate Assembly will be held on Wednesday evening, December 2nd. In addition to the election of trustees for several Board seats, the delegates will consider four resolutions ? one of which would remove the words "Mental Retardation" from the Association's official name.

As we do every year, OACB will recognize individuals for their dedicated service to people with developmental disabilities. The Distinguished Service Award will be presented to a Board Member from a small, medium and large county. In addition, we will present the Betty Macintosh Award, the Ken Legats Award, the Partners in Excellence Awards and a Legislator of the Year Award to a member of the Senate, as well as the House of Representatives.

All sessions for the 26th Annual Convention will be held at the Hilton at Easton. In addition to a large block of rooms at the Hilton, OACB will be offering special convention rates at the Hampton Inn & Suites at Easton, as well as the Courtyard Marriott at Easton. Both the Hampton Inn & the Courtyard Marriott will provide complimentary transportation to the Hilton; the Courtyard Marriott is also within walking distance. In addition, there is a Residence Inn by Marriott located at Easton that offers competitive rates. The Easton Town Center offers plenty of shopping, dining and other recreational activities following the day's sessions - all without having to get in a car. So please plan to join us for the 26th Annual Convention December 2-4.
