Cox Communications

James Kelso is the vice president of video technology for Cox Communications. He oversees the architecture, selection, integration, testing and engineering design of current and future video network elements and associated technologies. He works closely with vendors to facilitate Cox-specific needs for core video and interactive services, and establishes strategies for system-level design of networks, infrastructures, and technology roadmaps.

Kelso joined Cox in 1987 as a video production manager in Gainesville, FL and joined the corporate engineering team as director of engineering for Cox Media in 1991. Most recently, he served as vice president of marketing & communications for SeaChange, where he led product development and marketing efforts behind SeaChange’s video on Demand and cable advertising systems.

Kelso’s articles, white papers and commentaries on emergent digital video, advertising and on Demand technologies have been published in domestic and international television trade journals. He is a member of the Society of Cable Television Engineers and the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers, and he frequently addresses television, advertising and consumer technology conferences.

A graduate of the University of Florida, Kelso holds a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Telecommunications Management with a specialization in business.
