Course Description:
This course teaches rescue breathing, CPR, two-rescuer CPR, and automated external defibrillation (AED) skills. Students may complete certification from the American Heart Association basic life support (BLS) for healthcare providers.
Student Learning Outcomes:
1. The student will demonstrate an understanding of the principles and techniques of emergency medical services (EMS) system.
2. The student will gain knowledge and skill of when and how they should be applied.
3. The student will demonstrate knowledge of prudent living and their effect on risk factors.
4. The student will demonstrate knowledge of adult CPR.
5. The student will demonstrate knowledge of child CPR.
6. The student will demonstrate knowledge of infant CPR.
7. The student will be able to gain certification from the American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Providers AED.
