LSC Elections

The 2018 local school council elections will take place on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 for elementary schools and Thursday, April 19, 2018 for high schools. The following individuals are eligible to vote in a school's election for parent and community representatives: ? Parents, legal guardians and temporary custodians of students enrolled in the school ? Persons at least 18 years old who reside within the school's attendance area or voting district.

All voters must present at least (2) current (unexpired) forms of identi cation. See the list of acceptable types of identi cation: English: / Spanish:

Safe Haven Recap

Over 4200 students attended the Spring Break Safe Haven program at 46 sites across Chicago! They stayed safe at these faith based organizations, had fun and continued learning outside of school time. All sites capped o the week with a eld trip to the Shedd Aquarium!

Title I Tip of the Month

Timely expenditure of your Parent Engagement funds is important! Funds are meant to help parents in the year they are awarded, so it is important not to wait until the last moment! What can you do?

? Parent workshops or materials on various topics

? Choose themes that school's special circumstances (bullying, homework help, transitioning to a new grade, testing stress, home routines, etc...)

? Parent Room Furniture or Equipment--if your school has a dedicated room for parents, does it need furniture? A storage cabinet? A dedicated copier? A co ee maker?

? O ce Supplies--paper, pens, clips that are for parent activities only! Remember that funds are only for parent use!

REMINDER: The CPS budget is always frozen for maintenance in late May, so work with your school clerk and plan your activities and submit your purchase orders now!
