Echocardiogram

A resting echocardiogram is a safe, painless procedure for the patient that takes the sonographer about 25-30 minutes to perform. Patient needs to remove clothing from the waist up; female patients suggested do not wear a dress. CPT Code: 93306

Venous Duplex Scan

The venous duplex scan is a painless exam thLaatwuresnecesRuatltclriaffs, oMuDnd to check the circulation in the large veins in the arms and legs. During a venous duplex scan, the veins are viewed and compressed to check for DVT. The procedure takes about 30 minutes to complete. Any suspected deep vein thrombosis (DVT) indications must be referred directly to a specialist, or to the ER. Patient is required to disrobe from the waist down or waist up depending on the area of interest. CPT Code: 93970, 93971

Abdominal Aorta Scan

Generally, an abdominal aorta scan is ordered to check for the presence of an enlargement in the aorta that indicates an aneurysm. The abdominal aorta scan is safe and painless. The patient lies motionless on their back while the sonographer creates ultrasound images of the abdomen. The abdominal aorta scan should take 15-20 minutes. Morning appointments only. No food or liquids after midnight. Medications may be taken with a reasonable amount of water. CPT Code: 93978, 76706

Carotid Duplex Scan

Unlike resting or stress echocardiograms which examine the heart, during carotid duplex imaging the sonographer focuses on the patient's carotid arteries on the left and right sides of the neck. The procedure is safe, painless and relatively quick; it should take about 20 minutes. Patient should not wear a turtleneck top. CPT Code: 93880, 93882

Peripheral Arterial Exam

During a peripheral arterial exam, the sonographer uses a variety of ultrasound imaging techniques to produce pictures of the arterial blood flow in the patient's lower extremities. The peripheral arterial takes about 45 minutes to complete. CPT Code: 93922, 93925

Thyroid Scan

An ultrasound of the thyroid produces pictures of the gland and adjacent structures in the neck. It is very common for nodules to develop in the thyroid that may or may not be felt on the skin's surface. The thyroid gland helps regulate a variety of body functions including how fast the heart beats. The exam usually takes 15-20 minutes to complete. Patient should remove clothing and jewelry from the neck and collar bone areas. CPT Code: 76536
