Mayor Pickens called the budget hearing to order on June 5, 2017 with five members present.Mrs. Price was absent. Mr. Cox motioned to approve the request, seconded by Mrs. Sargent. He had it inspected by and was told that the bulbs are obsolete. The cost for a lens lamp is $400 and the LED replacement is $1150. After discussion, Mr. Watson motioned to replace it using the LED countdown option. Mayor Pickens stated that county permissive tax funds will be used. Mrs. Chaney seconded the motion. The bids were opened for the water tower painting, but all bids were rejected due to unspecified items in the advertised bid packet. One item was the tube inside the tower that was not included in the specs. The BPA is looking into a maintenance contract for this project.PARK REPORTMrs. Chaney reported that the committee meets Thursday to finalize preparations for the quarter auction fundraiser. Mrs. Haines informed Mrs. Chaney to let her know before June 16th if she needs startup money.OLD BUSINESSMayor Pickens stated that he is still waiting for the solicitor regarding vacating alleys and has a tentative meeting with him this week. NEW BUSINESS17-060AIR CONDITIONER REPAIRMr. Watson stated that Shawnee Heating and Air was notified because the back air conditioner unit on the library side was not operating correctly. It was found that it needs a blower motor with an estimated cost of $700. It is in the ceiling and the library will need to remove shelving before they can make the repair. Paul Gregor of the library was present and stated that the company that installed them will have to be the ones to take them apart and then re-assemble them. He will contact them and notify us when that can be arranged. Mr. Watson motioned to approve the repair, seconded by Mrs. Sargent. Mr. Gregor stated that when he had a plumber in at the library, he was told that since we are so close to the water tower, that a reduction valve might be warranted. Mr. Gregor thanked the street department staff for the use of equipment for the summer reading kickoff programas the library celebrates its 20th year here. Meeting Adjourned at 7:27 p.m.17-064OPWC GRANT APPLICATION APPROVALThe meeting was reopened at 7:37 p.m. with the same members present. Mr. Cox reported that Mr. Applegate, Silvercreek Twp trustee, left information with the substitute receptionist earlier today that needs council action. Mayor Pickens located the document and read to council. Silvercreek Twp is applying again for an OPWC grant for Cottonville Rd improvements. The village and school portion is $6598.54 each. Mr. Watson motioned to approve the request, seconded by Mrs. Chaney.
