“Lunch Money” by Andrew Clements

“Lunch Money” by Andrew Clements

About the Book:

Greg is a boy who loves money. When he notices his classmates’ ready supply of change for lunchtime treats, he’s sure it’s the key to reaching his get-rich goal. But Principal Davenport disapproves of peddling toys at school. So Greg invents the Chunky Comic. Who could object to him selling books?

Greg Gets frustrated by competition from another comic book maker, his life time rival, Maura Shaw.

When Principal Davenport prohibits the selling of the comics in school, Greg and Maura form an unlikely alliance. Along with their math teacher, Mr. Z, they learn to work together and present their case to the school committee. The whole experience teaches Greg a lot about Maura, his principal, and running a school system. More importantly he learns that working together and making money is much more satisfying, when at least some of the money is used to help others.
