Carstairs
Parish Church
If you have faith God’s got the power,
If you make the commitment God opens the way,
If you make the pledge God gives you the winning edge.
Dear Resident
This leaflet comes from Carstairs Parish Church to extend good wishes for the coming seasons and to assure you, your family or friends, a warm welcome at our events. Note our leaflet and see further details on our Church website and Facebook, and in the Gazette under Carstairs News. Come rain, hail or shine, your local church is here for you.
Read here some of our news and activities on offer. There is room for more! Among our new happenings are Night Kirk which is an informal time of worship and our new Children’s experience called Open the Book. The Boys’ Brigade, Girls Brigade, the Net, and Messy Church all continue and are commended. This year our special celebration is the Centenary of the Life Boys/ BB Junior Section and if you were a member of the Life Boys please let us know!
Carstairs Church serves the Village and the Junction, Ravenstruther, Cleghorn, and Kames, and much of the surrounding rural area towards Forth, Lanark and Carluke. The parish is one of beauty and the warmth and dynamic to be found in our area is super. The Church is open, welcoming and up for adventure, we are loving, caring, outgoing, and a whole lot more. We welcome you whether you are native to the area or an incomer. Variety and diversity of interest is on offer including peace, quiet, and friendship, caring and fun!
Recently we sent a questionnaire to our membership to elicit people’s interests and skill sets and received an upbeat response that should make for good, purposeful and active times ahead. We’d love to hear from you by email, phone or post card if you have a challenge for us, or a need we might help meet, or if you have a talent or skill you would like to share.
Look out for our prayer tree on the grassy area near the ramp up to our Church. You are invited to pin your prayer requests on to it and find prayers and poems on it. We hope to open the Church midweek for prayer and meditation so keep an eye open for further detail. The Jigsaw Bible Study is on offer fortnightly. Note the meeting dates of the Guild.
The Church is open every Sunday for worship and all denominations are welcome as are the doubters, sceptics, and any who would like to explore the Christian Faith.
Do remember that the Church calls me not to serve a congregation but the Parish and I am here for you.
Meantime, wishing you many blessings,
(Rev) Maudeen I MacDougall
