How to Compose and Publish a Simple Webpage on mail



How to Publish a Webpage from Seamonkey:

1) Open up SeaMonkey (either click on the shortcut icon on your desktop or go to start, all programs, SeaMonkey and click on the tab)

2) Once opened, go to the window tab up at the top, open the tab and choose composer. You can also hit control 4 and the composer page will open.

3) Create anything you wish which could include text, you can insert images or links.

4) Once you are finished, click on the file tab and choose “save as”

5) Enter a title for your page (example: chemistry 502) and hit enter

6) It is going to ask you where you want to store your file. Make sure you choose the folder where you keep all of your Webpage data (example: PENN website)

7) Also, make sure you save the file as an HTML file.

8) Then hit save

How to Post a Picture on a Webpage:

1) First follow steps 1 through 3 from the above directions

2) Now that you are ready to post a picture there needs to be some pre-steps done:

a. Place a copy of the picture in your folder (PENN website) where you keep all your information that you post on your webpage.

b. Next open Filezilla and connect (see instructions from transferring files on how to accomplish this). (Don’t forget to open your html file on the right)

c. Open your folder (PENN website) where you keep all of your website information

d. Double click the picture you wish to post. It should now move into your HTML file on the right side (your remote site)

e. Once the picture is in your HTML folder, right click the picture. Choose File attributes and change the number from 600 to 755. If this step is skipped your image will not appear on your webpage.

3) On your composer page select the imagine icon

4) Now enter the imagine location or select Choose File

5) If you have already saved your imagine in your website folder (PENN website) as stated above, just select Choose File and take the imagine from your folder

6) Then under alternative text enter the label you want people to see if they place there cursor over your imagine (example: family photo)

7) Next click okay

8) Then re-save your composer page

9) Now you need to open Filezilla again:

a. Double click the composer page you just saved.

b. It should move the new updated file back into your HTML folder which will make it viewable.

How to Make a Link to a Separate Webpage on your site:

1) Open Seamonkey

2) Click the window tab above and select composer

3) Now click the open tab on the upper left

4) Make sure you are looking in your website folder (PENN website) and choose your main page html file (index).

5) Go to the spot on your webpage where you want your link to be placed

6) Now choose the link tab

a. It will ask you for Link Text, enter the text you want people to see to know which link they would be clicking on (example: how to compose a webpage)

b. It will ask you for Link Location, choose the browse button, then find the file you wish to create a link to (this file should be saved in your website information folder (PENN website)

c. Click okay

7) Your link should now appear on your webpage

8) Make sure you re-save your file

9) Now you need to re-open Filezilla

a. Connect to Filezilla

b. Double the file you created a link for (it should now move to the HTML folder on the right side (don’t forget to change the file attributes)

c. Also, double click on your index.html file (it should now move to the HTML folder on the right side

10) Your new link should be created and viewable on your webpage
