Businesses and/or research organizations in the fields of agriculture, microbiology, water treatment, food processing, bio gas, energy, material science, controlled environment agriculture, robotics & artificial intelligence. 7. Are you content for us to publish your concept note on our web platform in order to encourage potential consortium members to reach out to you? Yes8.Funding Requested (up to ?250k)?250K9.Co-funding provided (if any) and sourceNo 10.Please summarise your Innovation Challenge Fund research project in one sentence. 350 character limitCreating a scalable artificial intelligence and robotic based agricultural waste water treatment process and system for sustainable energy, carbon capture and bio materials production. 11.Please describe your project further. What problem does your pilot seek to address? Who are the potential beneficiaries and other stakeholders? What are the inputs and activities, and what are the outputs? What does success look like after 12 months of funded research? How will your solution reach the market place? 2500 character limitThe project research is primarily aimed at making use of waste water, with an agricultural approach to obtain energy, capture carbon and create value added bio materials. The primary objective of the project is to address climate change by leveraging the advances in robotics and artificial intelligence using data science. The systems thus created out of the intended research will act as an effective carbon capture apparatus and deliver primary sources of clean energy. The potential beneficiaries will include the mass populations benefitted by clean energy, improved health and sanitation. Stakeholders in the downstream of the system will be the agricultural community and marginal land holders in dry and arid regions. The inputs will include but are not limited to atmospheric carbon dioxide and waste water, the activities include a unique process & system to convert these into clean energy, biomaterials and usable carbon creditsA successful outcome from the research will be an effective prototype of a mass replicable and deployable system of waste water treatment, carbon capture and clean energy. With the model in place, the product outreach to the marketplace will entail tie ups with the government, private and public institutions and agricultural communities. 12.What is ‘technological’ about your proposed solution and why might this be appropriate to the challenge areas?1000 character limitThe current systems in place have not addressed many challenges posed by the factors of sustainability, market affordable carbon credit, mass replication and scalability of carbon capture systems to bring about positive changes in localised carbon capture, climate change coupled with the accessibility to clean energy and affordable bio materials. The use of artificial intelligence, robotics, data science and the unique system will usher in a new era of technology-based solutions to approach such challenges. 13.Is your proposed solution a response to the impacts of COVID-19, or an effort to contain the pandemic? If so, please explain. 1000 character limit Yes, if COVID 19 is an indirect problem of human need for energy and food. The clearing of millennia old rain forests in many tropical and sub-tropical regions has exposed humans to secluded flora and fauna that have acted as a reservoir for many unknown viruses, diseases and organisms. Human interaction with these flora and fauna has put us at a risk of unlocking such new diseases. With our research being successful, human need to clear forests for food, energy and materials will be satisfied using land unfit for agriculture or forestry. Such an approach will help mitigate and decrease the chances of reoccurrence of COVID 19 like pandemic.14.Does your proposed solution contribute to combatting climate change or promoting a greener planet? If so, please explain. 1000 character limitYes, practical solutions to waste water use, without allowing it to be let into rivers, lakes or oceans will be addressed in the project. The clean energy derived from the proposed system will be scalable and mass usable for power generation and green mobility. The huge volume of carbon that will be sequestered will help in decreasing our carbon footprint and over the years create a scenario of negative carbon emission. The use of bio materials derived from the system will help in curbing pollution caused by the use of non-degradable fossil fuel-based material. A successful system sequestering large amounts of carbon will help in lowering carbon credit costs hence accelerate the combatting of climate change.15.How is your proposal relevant to the development challenges of India? 1000 character limitA direct relevance to our environment, climate, clean air, pollution, health and sanitation are focussed in the research and its outcomes. Primary importance to the use of waste water and non-agricultural land will not make the system compete with the current agricultural land use patterns. All of the above-mentioned factors propel india to be the front runner in the race to combat climate change, which will add large chunks to the progress and development of India. 16.What consideration have you made of gender in developing your concept? Could your project address gender inequality or other kinds of inequality? 1000 character limitConsidering that we use artificial intelligence, robotics and data science along with the unique system within controlled environments, this will be an equal opportunity workplace.Notes: Please be kindly reminded of the primary criteria: relevance to the environmental and/or C19 agenda. See boxes 13 and 14. Except box 5, all boxes require mandatory response. In the interests of fairness, proposals that exceed the character limits will not be considered. ................
