Saying the Words Aloud: Continue saying words to friends, family, on the phone, in IM conversations etc. If you can’t get a signature, just explain when and how you said it HONOR SYSTEM! Do not abuse this privilege! Two sentences per word.

Writing your words: Write two sentences at random for your words or put all of your words in a story. Have fun and get creative-amuse me and impress me, but make sure you use your vocabulary words in context! Alternatively, use your vocabulary in your assignments-history, science, English etc. Write down your vocabulary usage (On my science test I said “Newton was meritorious” etc). You can abbreviate slightly as long as I understand you know the word’s meaning

Become the Vocab Word: Create motions to go along with your words. Cry for lament, raise your arms in praise for approbation, etc. See me during Pacer Period to ‘perform’ your motions, or write them down. Use your motions in class when you or others say a vocab word (.

Draw your vocabulary: Create cartoons or drawings that help you learn your words. One drawing/cartoon per word-make them neat, on clean white paper (can be used on the other side) and paperclip together for the end of the week.

Notecards: Create notecards for each word. Make sure you have the word, the definition, and a sentence with the word used in context. Feel free to add pictures if that helps!

Find Your Vocab: Find your vocabulary in your reading and/or look for cartoons, situations, newspaper articles that remind you of your words. Label each cartoon, article or summary of a situation with a vocabulary word. For words you find in your reading, underneath say where you found them from. However, you cannot ‘google’ or use any other search engine for words-you have to find them legitimately on your own.

Exercise with vocabulary: Play games online and do the exercises in your book for the unit. You have to print out at least 3 game sheets (or tell me what you did on paper), and show me the completed exercises in the book (if we are halfway through a unit, fill out the answers you know, and leave the rest for the second week). Instead of doing online games, you can listen to the words on iWords (at least twice all the way through) and tell me how they are helping.

Sing your vocab: Rewrite the words to a song to incorporate vocabulary or write your own music plus lyrics. You can also write poetry. Your words have to make sense-they can't be random chanting :).

Test yourself: Create a test using the vocabulary words and make sure you make it the answer key test :)

Test should incorporate all the words in a variety of questions.

Create your own option: Get approval from me first!

Class or individual tests will prove how well you know your words. Switch options to test out your strengths and weaknesses. You can redo any problems with your vocabulary work up to three times a semester. All work should be neat and clean-typed or written out neatly in blue/black ink or dark pencil.
