|Open iMovie and select Create New Project. | |

|At the prompt, name your Project and Save to Desktop. |[pic] |

|Click the triangle to the left of the camera icon and choose iSight from the pop-up | |

|menu. You should now see yourself in the video window. |[pic] |

|To begin recording, click the "Record with iSight" button. To end recording, click | |

|the "Record with iSight" button again. |[pic] |

|Drag video clip from clip pane (right) to grey strip (bottom). | |

|1.Click the Titles button (bottom right) to open the Titles pane. | |

|2.Select a title style from the list. Workshop will use “Centered Title”. |[pic] |

|4. Check the box for “Over black”. |

|5. Type a Title and your name in the title text fields. |

|9.Click Preview to see how the title will look. |

|10.Drag title style icon (“Centered Title) in front of your video clip at the |[pic] |

[pic]Inserting images or video clips while maintaing running audio

|Import the images you wish to insert using |[pic] |

|File > Import. | |

|Images will appear in the clips pane. | |

|1.Choose iMovie HD > Preferences. | |

|2.Click General. | |

|3.Select the "Extract audio when using 'Paste Over at Playhead'" checkbox. | |

|4.Select the video or image that you want to insert (from the clips pane) | |

|5.Choose Edit > Cut or Copy. | |

|6.Position the playhead at the first frame to be replaced, or use the triangular crop | |

|markers to select the video frames to replace. | |

|7.Choose Advanced > "Paste Over at Playhead." |[pic] |

|Your timeline should look something like image at right, with image inserted in middle | |

[pic]Saving movie as QuickTime movie

|1. Choose File > Share. |[pic] |

|2. Click QuickTime and choose a movie format from the pop-up menu. | |

|3. Choose Compress movie for CD-ROM | |

|4.Click Share. | |

| | |

|5.Name your movie: LastNameFirstInitial.mov, | |

|Select a location for the file, and click Save. | |

Saving to your IFS space

If you are using a university computer you will see an IFS icon on the Desktop. Store on your IFS space. Drag both the project file and the .mov file into your IFS space. You will need the project file should you wish to revise anything.

Uploading to ctools

To submit your movie review to ctools,

Go to DISCUSSIONS,

Click on the message entitled MOVIE REVIEWS.

Respond to the message including the name of the movie in the subject line

Attach your .mov file
