Some Ideas!!! or Create Your Own!!! 's APUSH Website
APUSH Extra Credit Final Project Choices: 2017This project is due on the day of your class final! Make sure you are prepared to present! Some Ideas!!! or Create Your Own!!!Illustrated Timeline – Choose a certain era of history or major events. Illustrate (you need to draw yourself) a timeline in a creative fashion and include detailed descriptions of the event. Illustrations can be scanned in to create an electronic timeline (Prezi might be a good option) or put on a giant- sized poster! (Please note – giant-sized.)3 Dimensional Historical Map – Physically or electronically create a 3D Map of major events in history. Maybe you choose major events of the Civil Rights Movement or major events in Native American History. Make it come alive!Wax Museum Figure – Create a wax museum exhibit of a historical person. Research that person, dress as them, create a “button” for museum goers to press, and give wax museum presentation.Music Video – Remember the “It’s Too Late to Apologize” video on the Declaration? Or the Spanish- American War from Mr. Bett’s Class? Do something like that!Era Time Capsule – Choose an era in history (ex. 20s, 60s) and make that era come alive through artifacts! For example, wear the clothing of the era and do a fashion show, bring in the fads, popular toys, and technology of the era. Include information on sports, medicine, Hollywood, music, etc.Family Tree/ History – Learn about your family! Complete research going back several generations (at least to your Great Great Grandparents) and create a family tree. You should include stories, pictures, documents, artifacts, etc. This can be an on-line, interactive family tree or it can be a physical exhibit.Role Play/ Skit –Choose an important historical figure to role play or create a skit about a historical event. Role plays must include a performance of a speech or acting out a scene from that person’s life. Skits may incorporate humor, but they must also add to the class understanding of a significant event. Maybe you create a game show or a news report… SNL-skit style event. Costumes and props are required. **You may choose to videotape this and show the video tape to the class. **This can be a puppet show too.Soundtrack Video: Create a soundtrack for a movie version of a historical event. (ex. Watergate) Use pictures or videos to represent the timeline of the events and create a soundtrack of actual songs to go along with what was happening historically. Include voiceovers if necessary. As you show the class your video, you will explain why you feel that each song matches the event.Airbands: Choose a time period or event in history. Create a 4-minute music mix with songs that collectively tell the story or your event or time period (songs do not have to be from the time period). Dress in costume and put some dance moves to it. Videotape your dance production!Songs through the Decades Lip SyncCreate a mix of clips from songs throughout several decades, dress up in appropriate costume, and lip sync/perform the songs. Here are some examples of people doing this in their cars. You could do that or something else! Here’s an example to get the creative juices flowing. Also SketchShe on YoutubeWe Didn’t Start the FireTake Billy Joe’s famous song “We Didn’t Start the Fire” as a starting point. In the song, Joel reminisces on the many events that occurred during his lifetime that led to the strife and tension of the day. Using the same tune as the song, re-write the lyrics to fit your own life and present day strife and tensions. Use Garage Band or a similar program to re-record the song with your new lyrics. Choose 10 of your more obscure lyrics and explain to the class why you included them.OR take a different song and change the lyrics as this student did with Blurred Lines and the Cold WarDraw My/Their Life/EventDo you like to draw?! Then this might be the project for you. Choose a character or event and give us clues to see if we can guess who or what you’re talking about. Here’s a President Obama example.Take Us Down the Rabbit HoleDid we really land on the moon? Who shot JFK? What happened to the people at Roanoke? Did the Free Masons shape our country? Explore a historical mystery or conspiracy theory and present out what you’ve found. What do you think? ................
