Lord of the Flies- Final Project

*Choose three of the projects below to complete for assessment points*

1. Create a 10 frame comic book of a scene or many scenes in Lord of the Flies.

• You may draw your own or use a comic book generator online

• Your comic book should be in color

• It should include conversation bubbles and any necessary text to explain a drawing

2. Write a sequel to the novel.

• It needs to be at least 2 pages typed

• It should be creative

• You should stick to the facts of the novel—characters and situations should be based on the novel

3. Create a diorama of the island or a very important scene (Simon’s death, the Lord of the Flies, the boys’ assembly point, castle rock, etc.)

• This should be at least shoebox sized

• It should be colorful and neat

• Include labels and a paragraph description of your scene.

4. Write and perform a song about Lord of the Flies to the class

• Lyrics must be original

• The song should be at least 3 stanzas long

• You will turn in a copy of the lyrics to me

5. Create a poster of the Plot Diagram for the novel

• You need to attach pictures representing something from EACH chapter of the novel on the appropriate spot of the Plot Diagram

• The pictures need to be attached in the proper order on the poster

• Each picture should be labeled by chapter number

• The pictures may be drawn or printed

6. Draw or Paint ONE of the 5 symbols found in Lord of the Flies

• Your drawing/painting must be original

• You must turn in the original copy

• You should include a written paragraph about the importance of the symbol you chose to draw/paint

7. Create a CD cover and find 3 songs that connect with a theme in the novel.

• You need to write a short paragraph for each song that explains the significance of the song and how it relates to the novel.

• The cover should pertain to the novel and should be creative, colorful, and accurate. These can be computer generated.

8. Pack a suitcase. Choose a character from the book and pack his suitcase.

• You need to choose at least six items your character would pack with him for the time on the island.

• You need to write a short paragraph for each item explaining why that character would pack it.

• You can have drawings of the items, or bring in a real suitcase with items in it.

9. Write a eulogy ( speech at a funeral) for one of the dead characters. It needs to be ½-1 page typed in length.

10.Write a news article that would appear after the boys arrived back safely to England.

• Tell the story of the experiences on the island.

• Include a catchy heading.

• Include at least one picture.

• Must be typed in columns to look like a newspaper.

11. Choose an important scene from the novel and re-write it into a script. Then, with a group, act out the scene. This can be performed live or videotaped.
