Final Project: Creative Group Presentation

Assignment Overview

Do a creative presentation on your book to convince others to read it.

Purpose

▪ To convince your classmates to read the book (even if you didn’t personally like it, consider why someone might like it, what one can gain by reading it, etc.).

▪ To teach the class about what happened in the story (an overview).

▪ To demonstrate your understanding of the book

Format:

▪ A creative, enlightening, and entertaining presentation

▪ It must be something that can be presented in front of the class

▪ It must be your own creative work (no playing or presenting something that already exists)

▪ All group members must be actively involved in the presentation

▪ Possible ideas:

o Sales pitch (as if you are the book agent selling it to a publisher, or a publisher selling it to readers)

o Commercial

o Skit

o Movie trailer

o Video

o Speech

o Author interview

o Music video

o Original soundtrack

Other requirements

▪ Once you have decided what you want to do, write a detailed proposal outlining:

o What the finished product will be

o How it will fulfill the purpose of this assignment

o How it will involve all the members of your group

o What resources you will need and how you will get them

o How you will get it done on time (be specific!)

o Proposals due by Tuesday, May 11th (turn in earlier if possible)

o Include book title and group member names on the proposal

▪ Presentations should be 10-15 minutes long

▪ Presentations should be appropriate for a high school classroom

o These books deal with mature issues; you should demonstrate your maturity by dealing with them appropriately in your presentation.

o Handling content in an immature or inappropriate way will affect your score negatively.
