SUMMARY

Notifies or locates customers with delinquent accounts and attempts to secure payment by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Responsible for determining and implementing collection action on past due accounts

• Mail letters, email, and call customers to encourage payments of delinquent accounts.

• Facilitate negotiation, settlements, and payments arrangements.

• Responsible for monitoring and maintaining assigned accounts and reducing delinquency

• Prepare and draft various reports and letters.

• Consult with collection agencies and attorneys.

• Notifies credit department if customer fails to respond.

• Records information about financial status of customer and status of collection efforts.

• Reconciliation of employee receivables and invoicing of miscellaneous receivables.

• Sorts and files correspondence.

• Supports a spirit of excellence in service.

• Attends mandatory Convocation every Wednesday.

• Performs related and other departmental duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience:

• Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; three to five years of collections experience, preferably in a higher education setting; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

▪ Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

▪ Superior command of English grammar and spelling.

▪ Excellent verbal and written communication, including a persuasive communication style.

▪ Mathematical and Technology Skills:

▪ Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, and percentages.

▪ Intermediate knowledge and application of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

▪ Ability to learn new database.

▪ Reasoning Ability:

▪ Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

▪ Ability to deal with a variety of office situations.

▪ Applies logical methods to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
