Walled Lake Unified Girls Lacrosse TeamBoard Meeting MinutesMeeting Date: October 7, 2014Call to OrderThe meeting was called to order at 6:46 pm.Attended by:Ashley Ellis, Laurie Schinker, Audrey Smith, John Willis, Kim Hunsinger, Gene Timmer, and Dennis SmithIntroductions:Ashley introduced herself and gave us a brief background on where she played, and where she has coached in the past. She indicated that she would have a parent meeting in the winter, and conditioning would start a few weeks before tryouts.Potential practice time 3:30-5:30Potential groups to reach out to for players: Girls Hockey and BasketballPractices:John and Audrey asked if some of the practices could be held at Central to keep things fair due to the games all being held at Western. Laurie explained that she had discussions with the Athletic Directors office and Western has the most space to host our girls for both games and practices and the schedule is determined for the Spring.Ashley to ask Harvey Donahue if a trainer will be on site for all practices and games.March 9th tryouts beginCurriculum Night:Laurie inquired about the number of girls that came to curriculum night, and asked that an email be sent out thanking the girls and their families for their interest, and give them our website link and contact information for any questions.Division of Assets:John gave a summary of the cash on hand, and how much was divided between the two clubs. The following breakdown was provided by John in an email after our board meeting:The starting balance in the teams account was $12,766.82.? A 50/50 split (which I thought would have been appropriate) would have resulted in each club getting ?$6,383.41 .? However, Brian, for some unknown reason felt the unified team should give the Northern team $2500 because we get to keep some Jerseys, some of which are worthless, and the Varsity ones have been used for 1/3 of their life already.? This would have resulted in $12,766.82 - $2,500 leaving $10,266.82 to be split resulting in $5,133,41 for each team plus Northern getting the extra $2500.?? There is no way $2500 is a fair amount that we should have to pay.? Being all the goalie equipment was picked out, and used by Rachel and the northern girls, I figured to buy our girls new Goalie Equipment (2 sets) the cost would be around $800.? However there is some goalie equipment we could leverage, so I reduced the $800 down to $500.? I think it only fair that if our girls have to pay $2500 for Northern jerseys, that Northern should pay $500 for our girls to get new goalie equipment.? With my proposal, Northern gets $7,383.41 & our girls get $5383.41.?Division of owned assets has not taken place yet, but all items are in John’s possession.Laurie is trying to arrange a date that will work between Ashley, Laurie, and the two representatives from the Northern team to divide the remaining assets. That may take place at the ESC building on Ladd Road.John is concerned that we had to pay an unfair amount to reimburse the Northern team for their jerseys, since we retained the jerseys that were purchased last year, and we didn’t pay $2,500 for those jerseys, and they are a year old.We are also concerned that we receive appropriate funds to purchase goalie equipment for our team since the old goalie equipment was selected by a particular individual and we feel that she should use that equipment, and we should be able to have our new goalie select her equipment.Bank AccountJohn said that he would schedule a time for Laurie and Audrey to go to the credit union and get their names added to the account and give them debit cards for their use.Assistant CoachesAshley is interviewing a few candidates and hopes to have a selection soon.It was suggested that she reaches out to the boys that coached the JV team last year and also consider them as candidates. Audrey provided contact information to Ashley.Coaches Meet and GreetWe would like to get a meet and greet scheduled Mid-November.One at Central, and another at Western Boys have already had their meet and greetGamesLeague games have already been scheduled (Ashley to provide)1st league game March 30thIt was noted that we might not have decent turnout if any games are scheduled during Spring Break, beginning the Wednesday before Spring Break as families leave early.Ashley was interested in scheduling additional games with opponents that we were competitive with last season.Last year we paid a scheduler to schedule the ref’s for our games.
