All projects are due on Wednesdays at the beginning of class. Forms are to be downloaded from Mr. Reeser’s webpage (reesersclass.). If you are absent, your project is due the day you return!
• Aug. 28 – Projects 1 & 2 (Forms A & B) – Watching National News, Watching Local News (10 points each - 20 points total)
• Sept. 4 – Projects 3 & 4 (Forms C & D) – Using reputable News Sources, Analyzing News Articles (10 points each - 20 points total)
• Sept. 11 – Projects 5 & 6 (Forms E & F) – Analyzing News Articles (10 points each - 20 points total)
• Sept. 18– Project 7 (Form G) – Analyzing an article dealing with the Bill of Rights (10 points)
• Sept. 26 (Thursday) – Project 8 (Form H) – Study a specific issue in the news (prepare early for this one, it takes lots of time – weeks!) (50 points)
• Oct. 9 – Project 9 (Form I) – Analyzing a News Magazine (10 points)
• Oct. 16 – Project 10 (Form J) – Analyzing a political cartoon (10 points)
• Oct. 23 – Project 11 (Form K) – Interview a local government official (Plan early!) (20 points)
• Oct. 30 - Project 12 (Form L) – Interview a local community leader (Plan early!) (20 points)
• Nov. 6 – Project 13 (Form M) – Attending a government meeting (Plan early!) (25 points)
Government A – Current Events
All current events are due on Fridays at the beginning of class. If you are absent, your current event is due the day you return!
Make sure to get the “Current Event” form from my website (reesersclass.).
Due Dates:
• Aug. 30 – Current Event #1 – Current Event concerning a government other than the United States (10 points)
• Sept. 6 – Current Event #2 (Cartoon) – Find a political cartoon that deals with the government of another nation (10 points)
• Sept. 13 – Current Event #3 – Current Event concerning a person or group who feels the Federal Government is too strong and wants to shift some kind of power to the States.
• Sept. 20 - Current Event #4 (Cartoon) – Find a political cartoon that deals with one of the three branches of our government (10 points)
• Oct. 11 - Current Event #5 – Current Event concerning Federalism (10 points)
• Oct. 18 – Current Event #6 – Current Event concerning someone exercising a right guaranteed by the US Constitution – explain what amendment or part of the Constitution guarantees this right and how the current event is relevant to this amendment. (10 points)
• Oct. 25 – Current Event #7 – Current Event where someone’s Constitutional rights could be threatened by a government (in the US). Explain what right is threatened and how it is threatened. (10 points)
• Nov. 1 - Current Event #8 – Current Event on a current criminal trial – explain what constitutional protections of the defendant were mentioned in the article (10 points)
• Nov. 8 – Current Event #9 – Current Event on a current Supreme Court Case (10 points)
