Opportunities to Serve

Every woman is gifted and the church is better when you use your gift. Perhaps yours is praying, preparing a meal, or planning events, etc. We have many serve opportunities but here are a few we would love for you to consider this semester.

1. Prayer Team: Each week you will receive a weekly email with the prayer requests submitted to the church office. Simply pray for the needs. As an emergency need arises you will also receive an email. This is an often unseen ministry but perhaps the most important ministry of the church.

2. Take A Meal Team: A baby, a move, or an illness can be stressful, but having someone provide a simple meal can lighten the stress! Do you like to cook or purchase carry out? Then we would love to have you serve on the Take A Meal Team. When there is a need, you will be contacted and given the opportunity to sign up. It's simple and easy!

3. Events Team: Do you like to plan parties, decorate, and help others connect through social events? Several times a year this team will help the women of Crossroads connect through events.

EARLY GIRL BIBLE STUDY

A community of women studying God's Word together

We are a community of women who, beginning in the fall of 2000, have encouraged and supported one another. We'd love to have you join us. This is a great opportunity for busy women, whether they are new to Bible study or very experienced. A local church allows us the privilege of using their facility. We know, it's EARLY but it works for many. And you can do it 1 day a week!

SOUL KEEPING: Caring for the most important part of you AUTHOR: John Ortberg LEADER: Linda Harder HOMEWORK: 15 minutes/day plus optional reading MEETING DAY & TIME: Thursdays mornings, 6am-7:15am (7 weeks) BEGINS: September 24, 2015 ENDS: November 5, 2015 MEETING SITE: Connecting Point Church of the Nazarene CHILD CARE: None COST: $20 (book provided)

The health of your soul isn't just a matter of "saved" or "unsaved". It's the difference between a deep, satisfying Christian walk and a restless, disoriented faith. Homework consists of daily taking the time to recognize and develop the most overlooked, underrated and least-understood part of your being. "Only take care, and keep your soul diligently, lest you forget the things that your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life." Deuteronomy 4:9 (ESV)

MARY: What the Bible says about the mother of Jesus LEADER: Mona Shriver HOMEWORK: 15 minutes/day MEETING DAY & TIME: Thursdays mornings, 6am-7:15am (2 weeks) BEGINS: November 12, 2015 ENDS: November 19, 2015 MEETING SITE: Connecting Point Church of the Nazarene CHILD CARE: None COST: No additional cost

Just who was Mary? And what do we really know about her? We'll explore what the Bible says about this woman. Maybe correct some misconceptions and gain insights into the truth about the virgin who gave birth to our Savior.

Believing in Christ as your Savior is the first step. The rest of your life is living as the woman God created you to be. Most all of us need help to do that. Women of Purpose is the ministry of Crossroads Church devoted to help, support, and encourage women to do just that.

This brochure will describe the opportunities we have for women to join together with other women to discover and explore how to live as Christian women in today's current culture. Whether you're a new Christian woman or one who has walked with Christ for a long time, whether you're a student of the Bible or hardly know it, we want you to join us.

Inside you will find several different types of groups. Some will be in depth Bible studies. Some will be "book club meets Bible study" where you'll be reading and discussing books written by those who are recognized as knowledgeable authors, pastors, or speakers. Some will be rooted in the basics of living as a Christian. The subjects will vary but they will be biblically based and facilitated by trained leaders.

We pray that these opportunities will be rich for you. That you will build relationships with other women who are like minded. And that you will feel comfortable and welcome in whatever group you join. None of us are done growing until we're at heaven's gates. Let's help one another so together we learn and we grow.

Each class will have a specified amount of homework for you to do on your own in between meetings. We've tried to give you a realistic expectation for the time required to do that. So with that in mind, we do encourage you to do your homework each week. Plan for it. Set aside the time and purpose to do it. The time you put into this will be multiplied by the benefit you get out of it. However, we also know that life can interrupt our plans. And we absolutely know that as soon as you purpose to spend time in God's Word or grow in your relationship with Him those interruptions seem to flourish. If that happens, we want you to continue to attend. You will always glean something from your time together. Sometimes, we miss homework and then spend the rest of our time together trying to catch up. It's frustrating and discouraging. So if you must skip some material, it's okay. We suggest you begin again where your group currently is. Your leader is there to help you so feel free to talk with her about it.
