Call for Abstracts

For

National Recreational Water Quality Workshop

*Due January 20, 2020*

About the Workshop

This 3.5-day workshop will be a forum for recreational water quality managers, stakeholders, researchers and public health officials at all levels to share information and ideas about implementing and supporting a successful recreational water program. The focus of this workshop is on two common challenges: fecal contamination and harmful algal blooms. The workshop will be held April 21-24, 2020 at the Crowne Plaza West Loop in Chicago, IL.

Call for Abstracts

EPA and CTIC seek proposals for presentations on topics relevant to the national recreational water program and in ambient waters only. Examples of such topics include:

• Predictive models/forecasting/remote sensing

• Monitoring and rapid assessment of water quality

• Source tracking

• Risk assessment

• State/tribal and local water monitoring (lessons learned, practical applications, new techniques)

• Remediation/upgrading infrastructure

• Sanitary surveys

• Communicating water quality conditions to the public and other agencies

• Evaluating the effectiveness of recreational water programs

• Economics and cost of remediation

• Partnering/Citizen science

• Emerging concerns for recreational water quality

We are seeking oral presentations and/or posters. We will display posters during a poster session at the Crowne Plaza. Mark your calendar now for this important event!

Abstract Submission Details

We invite you to submit an individual abstract on one of the topics listed above. The abstract should describe the presentation in no more than 250 words and should also include the following additional information:

• Presentation title

• Author

• Topic area

• Name of presenter

• Affiliation

• Phone and e-mail address

• Preference to present a poster, oral presentation or either format

The deadline for submitting an abstract is January 20, 2020. Abstracts should be submitted through email to CTIC at submit.CTIC@.
