TEACHERS THAT TEACH TO THE STUDENT Students at this level are continually being assessed by their classroom teachers to measure knowledge and understanding. Beginning in the spring of second grade, students undergo a formal assessment and are administered the ERB grade specific test. Careful analyzation and reflection are given to the outcome of this test in order to ensure the course curriculum is rich in content and thoroughly understood by our students.
EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
The Lower School program is an academically rigorous yet child centered program, rich in content and committed to the learning process. The children are exposed to a balanced literacy program which includes reading, writing, speaking and listening. The mathematics program is sequential and progressive, continually building on concepts previously taught and knowledge gained. In both language arts and math, children are continually assessed, which ultimately drives the instruction. Keeping in mind the important benchmarks of childhood development, the learning environment combines enrichment and support to meet the individual and ever-changing needs of students. The Lower School Program is committed to the development of the whole student; consequently, special area classes broaden the learning opportunities for all Lower School students. These classes include physical educational, art, technology, library, music and world language. The combination of small classes and the careful merging of structure, responsibility, and freedom allow students to develop at different rates. The faculty works as a team to meet the needs of students as individual learners and to stimulate a lifelong love of learning. Learning experiences develop each child's potential and promote a belief that he or s he can make a positive difference in today's society. Students are encouraged to ask questions, formulate solutions and experiment with new ideas. Through these experiences, children learn how to interact positively with each other as well as with adults. They learn how to formulate goals for themselves and then evaluate their progress on those goals.
CSN SCHOOL MISSION Community School of Naples is committed to academic excellence. We provide our students with a broad range of personal opportunities within a caring and respectful environment. The School prepares students to become independent thinkers and lifelong learners who strive to realize their full potential. In support of our vision, we apply innovative thinking and technology within a rigorous curriculum; focus on involved citizenship in the world at large; and rely on the commitment of our parents, the dedication of great teachers and the involvement of our students.
Academic Program
AFTER SCHOOL CARE Sports Club is designed to meet the needs of our students in Grades K-8. Students will be given the opportunity for play, homework, various sports, and creative activities and snack. Hours of operation are from after school to 6:00 p.m.
LUNCH PROGRAM CSN is pleased to offer our students healthy options available for order through our school lunch program. We believe that communication plays an important role in the development of a child, as a result, students are given break periods, recess, and lunch to encourage peer to peer socialization.
TECHNOLOGY Technology is incorporated into every classroom in the lower school. The school employs smart boards, and has mobile iPad and MacBook Air labs available for the classroom setting. Digital citizenship remains at the heart of the Lower School technology curriculum.
