FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS CONCERNING THE NOVEMBER 3rd PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONWHEN DO ABSENTEE BALLOTS BECOME AVAILABLE? Absentee ballots became available in CT on Friday, October 2.HOW DO I REQUEST AN ABSENTEE BALLOT APPLICATION?The CT Secretary of the State’s Office mailed every registered voter in CT an application in September. If you did not receive your application, one is attached to this document. You can download, complete & either mail or place in the Election drop box outside of Town Hall. CAN I EMAIL OR FAX MY COMPLETED ABSENTEE BALLOT APPLICATION TO THE TOWN CLERK’S OFFICE?Yes, but you must also mail in the original absentee ballot application with your live ink signature on it by Election Day or your vote will not count. If you choose to email your application you can email it to clerk@stonington- or fax to 860-535-5062. WHAT IF I DIDN’T RECEIVE MY ABSENTEE BALLOT THAT I REQUESTED?There is an Additional ballot application attached to this document. Complete & return so that we may process you another absentee ballot. You can email the application to clerk@stonington- BUT you must put the original with your live ink signature in the mail to us & we must receive it before November 3rd or your vote will not count. HOW DO I RETURN MY ABSENTEE BALLOT APPLICATION AND/OR MY COMPLETED BALLOT?Once completed you can either mail or drop in the Official Ballot Drop Box located at Town Hall at the base of the front stairs as soon as you complete it. WHEN IS THE LAST DAY TO REGISTER BY MAIL?Must be postmarked by October 27 & mailed to the Registrar of Voters Office, 152 Elm St., Stonington, CT 06378.WHEN DO ABSENTEE BALLOTS HAVE TO BE RETURNED BY?8:00 p.m. on November 3. Ballots must be returned to the Election drop box at Town Hall. Ballots cannot be delivered to the polling places. WHY WOULD MY ABSENTEE BALLOT BE REJECTED?
