Marine Maintenance Manager:
Marine maintenance specialist responsible for the repairs, preventive maintenance, budgeting and training of personnel assigned to maintain U.S. Navy Oil Spill Response Craft, Harbor Security Boats, and Service Craft. The Marine Maintenance Manager fully is well-versed in U.S. Navy Preventative Maintenance System (PMS) and overhaul requirements for Service Craft.
Marine Systems Engineer I (ME1):
Individual must have previously obtained Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) warranty repair certification in at least one marine diesel or outboard engine manufacturer. ME1 must possess a solid working knowledge of marine systems integration to include basic 120/12V electrical wiring, inverters, generator sets, cathodic protection systems, fuel systems, hull maintenance (aluminum and fiberglass), sanitation systems, outboard engine/instrument rigging, stern drive principles, boat trailer maintenance, and oxy/acetylene cutting and brazing. ME1’s must be proficient in the use of fire fighting gear and all types of safety gear. ME1s must have a minimum of three-years experience in boat repairs and general maintenance and a minimum of one year experience on vessels of 5,000 HP or greater.
Marine Systems Engineer 2 (ME2):
Individual must have previously obtained Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) warranty repair certification in at least one marine diesel or outboard engine manufacturer. ME2s must possess a superior knowledge of marine systems integration to include advanced electrical wiring and troubleshooting, generator set overhauls, outboard engine or diesel Class B overhaul, and basic weld repairs. Individual must have documented supervisory experience in boat repairs and/or engine maintenance. ME2s must possess a minimum of five years experience in engine repairs and/or general marine maintenance, and proven performance as a small boat operator.
Marine Systems Engineer 3 (MSE3):
MSE3 must possess either the highest Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) certification possible, or multiple certifications from the following engine manufacturers: Yamaha, Mercury, Johnson/Evinrude, Honda, Volvo-Penta, or Cummins. Individual must possess the highest level of knowledge certifiable in marine systems integration. In addition to all requirements of ME2, individual must possess an extensive training background in engine maintenance and electrical troubleshooting, customer service, superior knowledge of OEM operations to include parts procurement and warranty submission, marine engineering shop management experience. ME3s must possess a minimum of 10 years certification in OEM warranty service repairs.
Environmental Supervisor:
The Environmental Supervisor must possess a superior knowledge of all local, State and federal environmental regulations. The Supervisor must have a minimum of five years shipyard experience and have an excellent knowledge of Hazardous Waste manifests. In addition the Supervisor must have emergency response training for dealing with oil spills and a variety of other environmental accidents. This position may be HAZWOPPER certified.
Captain:
A Coast Guard licensed Master (minimum of not less than 100 Gross Tons Near Coastal) with a minimum of five years experience as master or senior deck officer of the watch. In addition all must have a minimum of one year experience sailing as Master of a vessel greater than 150 feet. Captain will be responsible for the safe navigation and welfare of any assigned crew to the assigned vessel. Captains must be able to pass the standard Coast Guard-approved physical.
First Mate:
All Mates must have a minimum of 2 years experience sailing as Mate or deck hand. In addition all must have a minimum of one year experience sailing as Mate or deck hand of a vessel greater than 150 feet. Mates must be capable of standing a watch aboard a vessel of at least 150 feet and must be well versed in line handling and basic navigation. Mates must be proficient in the use and instruction of various types of safety equipment. All Mates must be able to pass the standard Coast Guard-approved physical.
Diver/Surface Tender:
Divers and surface tenders must be certified by either NAUI or PADI and have no less than 1,000 dive hours logged. All divers and tenders must be small craft operators and be CPR certified as well as have a basic knowledge of dive medicine. All divers must carry their own gear and all must be certified by a local dive center.
