Advanced Young Women in STEM Scholarship

New Mexico Out-of-School Time (NMOST) Network is offering the Advancing Young Women in STEM Scholarship to inspire the next generation of female innovators and leaders. Applicants for the scholarship must be: 1. a high school junior/senior applying for college in STEM, or an undergraduate in STEM. 2. A resident of New Mexico or currently enrolled in a New Mexico college/university. 3. A young woman (25 or younger) pursuing a STEM education/career. 4. Have a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA (based on a 4.0 scale) Apply online by May 27 at .

Camp RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Award)

Juniors, are you looking for a summer camp to attend this summer? Check out Camp RYLA. RYLA is a leadership camp for young men and women who are juniors in high school. Child & Family Services, Inc. of Lea County Trenedy S. Grovey/Head Start Graduate Scholarship

Scholarship applications are now available to any 2019 High School Senior who graduated from Hobbs or Lovington Head Start. The applicant must be currently enrolled or planning to enroll in a four-year college or two-year Junior College. Two scholarships are available:

• The Trenedy S. Grovey Head Start Graduate Scholarship in the amount of $1,000 is made possible through funding from Child & Family Services, Inc.’s Head Start Staff Association and Grovey Family Fund contributions. The Scholarship Applicant must be a Hobbs High School Graduate.

• The Head Start Staff Association Scholarship in the amount of $250 is made possible through funding from Child & Family Services, Inc.’s Head Start Staff Association. The Scholarship Applicant must be a Hobbs or Lovington High School Graduate.

All applications must be completed and received by April 20, 2019. Winners of these scholarships will be eligible for submission to the New Mexico Head Start Association $500 Scholarship. Applications are available in the HHS Counseling Office.

Textbooks

If you have lost books, please see Mrs. Matthews in the Textbook Depository to pay for your books. Please remember that all book must be returned or paid for by the end of the school year.

Fees and Fines

HHS students need to pay all fees and library fines as soon as possible. This is especially important for seniors as no transcripts can be sent or diplomas issued until fees and fines are paid. Class fees may be paid in the HHS business office and library fines may be paid in the HHS library.

Driver’s Education

Attention juniors and sophomores. If you are interested in taking a driver’s education course during the school day, please stop by the counseling office to add your name to the list.

University of the Southwest I CAN Scholarship Program

University of the Southwest offers a unique money saving program for students entering grades 6th through 12th. The I CAN program allows students the opportunity to save money for future college attendance at USW. USW will deposit funds into your USW account based on grades earned in each of the following subjects: English, History, Math, & Science. 2019 Student-View Scholarship Program

The 2019 Student-View Scholarship Program is offering $11,000 worth of scholarships to high school seniors who plan to attend a four-year college, community/junior college or career school. The program includes: one $4,000 scholarship, two $1,000 scholarships, and ten $500 scholarships. It’s quick and easy to apply. Simply log on to student- and complete a 15-20 minute application survey about colleges in your area. The scholarship will be awarded via a random drawing of all completed applications. The scholarship winners will be announced in May. Don’t wait. The scholarship deadline is April 22, 2019.

April tasks for high school seniors

College Entrance Test Dates

Any student who is interested in going to college or technical school will have to take either the ACT or SAT exam. Most scholarships from colleges and universities are given to students who score a 25 or higher composite on the ACT or 1130 on the SAT. Many technical schools require at least a 19 composite on the ACT for entrance into their programs. Students may register on line. Below are the testing dates and registration deadlines.
