DIRECTIONS: 1. Research a Current Event news story in either a newspaper, magazine or internet. a. News story can be in the form of a written article or news story video from the internet. Please do not do a news story that you heard on TV. b. If you get your article from the newspaper, please cut it out and attach to your assignment. c. If your article is on the internet or your news story is a video from the internet, provide the URL or link where you found your story. 2. Complete the Weekly Current Event Assignment sheet given to you every Monday. 3. Turn in assignment sheet on Fridays.

FAQ??

What is considered "current" ?? o Any news story covered within 2 weeks of assignment due date. Example: Assignment is due on Friday, 9/29/18. Acceptable date of publication would be 9/15/18 ? 9/28/18.

What can I write about?? o Any local, national or global news story EXCEPT pop-culture or sports related. If you are unsure if your article is acceptable, either choose another or show Mrs. Daly the article in advanced to get her approval.

How long should my article be?? o Long enough that you can generate at least 7 sentences for an article summary.

Can I turn it in early?? o Yes, just drop it into your class mailbox in room 210

What if I am absent?? o Turn it in on the day you return. o If you know you are going to be absent on the day its due, turn it in on an earlier day.

What if I lose my assignment sheet? o There will be extra's always available in the "Current Events" folder in room 210, available on Mrs. Daly's 6th Grade Website: 6thgradeodyssey.
