Justin Moore’s newest CD, Outlaws Like Me, marks his second step into mainstream country music. This CD offers a unique blend of old school twang mixed with current studio production techniques to create a musical blend anyone would enjoy.

Title track, “Outlaws Like Me” follows Moore’s first big hit, “Small Town USA” and appeals once again to the people across rural America. It is a big track for this newcomer from Poyen, Arkansas. Moore is a throwback, cowboy hat-wearing musician who bucks the trend of recording pop songs that could be offered on top 40 stations across America.

Throughout the CD, songs speak of the simple moments of pleasure for Moore and others like him. With songs like “Flying Down a Backroad” and “If You Don’t Like My Twang,” Moore demonstrates his efforts to bring back the themes which made country music popular throughout the country.

“My Kind of Woman” demonstrates the musical quality listeners have come to expect from Justin Moore’s previous success. The song blends lyrics of depth along with a solid guitar background. Though this CD has many soon-to-be hits, one song stands out for its weakness, “Bed of My Chevy.” Towards the end of the album, songs begin to slow to take a more relaxed feel, but this particular track sags for its focus on Chevys.

Overall, this CD looks to be another leaping point for the new singer/songwriter. The themes and music appeal to both new-age country music fans as well as traditionalists who have become displeased with the pop image of present. 4/5 stars.
