PERSONAL HISTORY: Born on September 5, 1950 in Manhattan. Mathew J. Mari lived in Manhattan from 1950 to 1986 and is currently residing in Brooklyn. He is married and the father of one daughter and one son. Mathew J. Mari was admitted to the New York State Bar on February 22, 1977. He was admitted to practice in Federal Court in 1978 and to the Supreme Court of the United States in 1984. His criminal defense practice includes the entire greater New York area as well as upstate New York. In addition, he has represented clients in federal matters all across the country. He was chief counsel in the first federal death penalty case (United States v. Pitera) tried in New York State and has extensive experience in federal RICO and conspiracy cases as well as in major state and Federal narcotics cases. He has represented clients in famous cases such as “The Commission Case,” “The Bensonhurst Case,” and “The Wells Fargo Case”. While his personal practice is primarily criminal defense, through his associates his office handles personal injury matters and civil litigation. Mr. Mari is well known for his dedication to professional, charitable, and community organizations.

Mathew J. Mari grew up in the Little Italy section of Manhattan (Mulberry Street) and the Lower East Side (Knickerbocker Village). He attended St. Joseph’s School and Xavier High School in Manhattan. He earned his Bachelors Degree from Fordham College (Bronx) and his Law Degree from New York Law School.

Mathew has been a criminal defense lawyer since 1976 and has handled many high profile organized crime cases. He is considered to be an expert on organized crime.

Mathew is a regular guest and has co-hosted the “Curtis Sliwa Show” on 970AM Radio in New York. He is also a regular guest and has been a guest host on the “Murray Richman Show” on WVOX, 1460 AM Radio in Westchester, New York. He has been interviewed on The Biography Channel (Mobsters) in reference to organized crime. His views on public issues have been published in The New York Times, The New York Daily News, and the New York Post. He currently hosts The Mathew Mari Show on WVOX-1460 AM radio.
