How to Cut Music Using iTunes

1. Make sure that you have iTunes downloaded on your computer. If you don't, you can download it for free at .

2. Upload your song into iTunes (either via CD or by downloading it online). Remember, if your child is singing, they need to find the instrumental version of the song.

3. Once the song is in iTunes, follow these steps: a. In the playlist tab, locate your song. b. Right click on the song and select Create ACC Version.

c. Right click on the copied version (the ACC version) and select Get Info.

d. Note the kind of file. It should say ACC audio file. If it says otherwise, go back and find the ACC version that you created.

e. In the Options tab, edit the Start Time and Stop Time. The time settings should be the desired times needed for your child's act. Typically, the song will start at 0:00 and end at 2:00 (or at other appropriate ending time). Remember, you cannot go over 2:00. If needed, you can start at alternate times...again, as needed for your child's act. It is always a good idea to edit the time, select ok, then listen to the track to make sure that you have cut it to your needs.

f. Now that you have edited the start and stop time of the song, you need to create another version of the song that only plays the desired times. From your edited song, select Create ACC Version.

g. Note that the new copy will show its new length.

h. Create a New Playlist. Hit the file icon in the upper left hand corner of iTunes. Select new. Select new playlist.

i. Title your playlist, "Variety Show" and hit the enter key.

j. Add your cut song to the Variety Show playlist. Find your song. Then, click on it and drag it to the playlist box.

k. Once the song has been added, click on the done button. l. Right click on the playlist and select Burn Playlist to Disc.
