March 30th-April 6th West Art Lessons:

Hello everyone! I can’t wait to get back to school to see you all! But until then, each week I will provide each grade level with ONE art activity. I would love to see what you created! So, if you want to create an ART folder and place your artwork inside for when we return to school… that would be great!! Or feel free to email me a photo of your artwork! This activity is NOT mandatory and will NOT be graded….I just love seeing creative minds at work. Stay healthy, Stay safe, Stay creative!!!!

Kindergarten/ Mrs. DeNinno/ Ms. Preslock: “Silly Sandwich”

Kids love “silly” and fun anything and this is no exception. You can load anything you want on your Silly Sandwich. Food, toys, animals, the kitchen sink. It’s all good. A 9” x 12” size paper makes this a fun size. This size really exaggerates how silly and big this sandwich can be.

Directions:

Using a pencil, draw a silly sandwich. Remember to draw light, so when you erase you do not see those “unwanted” lines. Maybe your sandwich has Chocolate, Oreo cookies, a hot sauce bottle, a lollypop, cupcakes, a chicken leg, lemonade, pepperoni pizza, a llama, balloons, etc. If you want to get really creative, you can place your sandwich on a plate, design a decorative table cloth, and/or write your sandwich’s name in the background. Feel free to use crayons, markers, paint, colored pencils, oil pastels, chalk, construction paper, etc….or a combination of art materials. Below are a few examples. HAVE FUN!!!

1st Grade: “Silly Sundae”

Kids love “silly” and fun anything and this is no exception. You can load anything you want on your Silly Sundae. Food, toys, animals, the kitchen sink. It’s all good. A 9” x 12” size paper makes this a fun size. This size really exaggerates how silly and big this sundae can be.

Directions:

Using a pencil, draw a silly sundae. Remember to draw light, so when you erase you do not see those “unwanted” lines. Maybe your sundae has chocolate sauce, Oreo cookies, caramel sauce, brownie bites, fruit, whipped cream, sprinkles, and nuts. BUT….throughout your sundae there can be silly things such as a hot sauce bottle, a lollypop, cupcakes, a chicken leg, lemonade, pepperoni pizza, a llama, balloons, etc. If you want to get really creative, you can place your sundae in a fancy bowl, design a decorative table cloth, and/or write your sundae’s name in the background. Feel free to use crayons, markers, paint, colored pencils, oil pastels, chalk, construction paper, etc….or a combination of art materials. Below are a few examples. HAVE FUN!!!

2nd Grade: Grumpy Cat

I know it’s been tough for all of you not seeing your friends and being stuck in the house for a while now… but don’t get GRUMPY! Instead….Let’s draw Grumpy Cat! Here is a step by step drawing for you. A 9” x 12” size paper makes this a fun size. However, any size will work.

Directions:

Using a pencil, follow the step by step drawing starting with number 1. Remember to draw light, so when you erase you do not see those “unwanted” lines. When finished, think about a background. Is he outside? At a Birthday party? Is he in outer space? Or, maybe he just has a decorative background (such as polka dots)? Feel free to use crayons, markers, paint, colored pencils, oil pastels, chalk, construction paper, etc….or a combination of art materials. HAVE FUN!!!

3rd Grade: “Wacky Hats”

Kids love “wacky” and fun anything and this is no exception. You can design anything you want on your Wacky Hat. Food, toys, animals, the kitchen sink. It’s all good. A 9” x 12” size paper makes this a fun size. This size really exaggerates how silly and big this wacky hat can be.

Directions:

Using a pencil, draw a persons head. Remember to draw light, so when you erase you do not see those “unwanted” lines. Maybe your wacky hat has a race course on it, a bunch of dogs on a leash, different kinds of animals, a garden of some sort, candy, games, logo’s, a llama, etc. If you want to get really creative, you can add a background to go with your wacky hated person. For example, if I drew a bunch of African Animals as my hat, I could have my person surrounded by big leaves and tree vines. Or, if I drew a bunch a tea cups as my hat, I could make my background relate to the movie Alice in Wonderland. Feel free to use crayons, markers, paint, colored pencils, oil pastels, chalk, construction paper, etc….or a combination of art materials. Below are a few examples. HAVE FUN!!!

4th Grade: Minion

I know everyone always gets a kick out of Minions….and think they are really cute too! So hear you go… Let’s draw a Minion!

Directions:

Using a pencil, follow the provided step by step drawing of a Minion. Remember to draw light, so when you erase you do not see those “unwanted” lines. If you want to get really creative, you can add a background. Maybe your Minion’s background is from the movie, on a beach, in a jungle, or even with other Minions. Another option could be having your Minion in a “less” decorative background such as a solid color, polka dots, a rainbow of lines, an ombre effect, various size stars, a pattern of some sort, etc. Feel free to use crayons, markers, paint, colored pencils, oil pastels, chalk, construction paper, etc….or a combination of art materials. HAVE FUN!!!

5th Grade: Walt Disney

Continuing with our Walt Disney lesson, choose another Disney character to draw. Remember this character does not have to be from a current Disney movie or even a main character. Maybe it is someone who was only in the movie very little. You can even draw the “baby” version of your character.

Directions:

Using a pencil, draw your Disney character. Remember to draw light, so when you erase you do not see those “unwanted” lines. If you want to get really creative, you can add a background to go with your character. Maybe your character has a background from the movie, on a beach, in a jungle, or even with other Disney characters. Another option could be having your character in a “less” decorative background such as a solid color, polka dots, a rainbow of lines, an ombre effect, various size stars, a pattern of some sort, etc. Feel free to use crayons, markers, paint, colored pencils, oil pastels, chalk, construction paper, etc….or a combination of art materials. HAVE FUN!!!

6th Grade: Masks

Continuing with our masks, I would like you to create a mask. This mask may be 2D (flat) or 3D (round).

Directions:

If you are choosing a 2D mask, remember to draw light, so when you erase you do not see those “unwanted” lines. Your mask can consist of crayon, marker, paint, colored pencils, oil pastels, chalk, construction paper, newspaper, foil, water bottle caps, beans, cardboard, tissue paper, items found in nature, macaroni, feathers, toilet and paper towel rolls, paper plates, etc….or a combination of art materials. Be creative! Below are a few examples. HAVE FUN!!!
