Ext. police Station - Day
A quiet suburban police station with a fine trimmed garden.
Along the grass scurries a tarantula.
Then another.
Then five more. They all scurry away, finding hiding places amongst the garden.
(V.O)
...All units be aware of shots fired on Garrington Ave. Gunman still at large...
POLICE OFFICERS race from the police station to parked cars.
One OFFICER , mid thirties, walks back to the station holding takeaway.
OFFICER
What'd I miss?
The SERGEANT stops in his tracks.
SERGEANT
You stay in there, and keep us up to date with this gunman crisis.
The officer walks quickly towards the station.
A shrub rattles.
The officer drops his food and quickly snatches his handgun, aiming it towards the shrub.
OFFICER
SEEEEAARRRGGG....!
The Sergeant stops and looks back at the officer.
OFFICER
You gotta see this?
The Sergeant races back, a little confused.
A few more OFFICERS follow him.
The sergeant stares at -
A crying shrub.
SERGEANT
What the....
A pair of blood soaked shoes can be seen.
Everyone except the sergeant draw their handguns.
The sergeant grabs one of the shoes then drags the owner out from under the shrub.
DANE CHESLEY , early twenties, cowers at the sight of the police. He's covered from head to toe in blood. Only his eyes and mouth appear normal from drenching.
The officer pukes.
Dane's eyes are hysterical. He's seen hell.
DANE
God help Alston! He's our only hope! You have to help Allllssstoon!
EXT. outer Grave site - night.
ALSTON, mid sixties, tightens his hands into a fists then loosens them.
They shake.
Alongside him is GODFREY, also mid sixties.
He carries a digital video camera and checks everything is working through the camera's monitor.
GODFREY
What is this place Alston?
Alston doesn't blink.
ALSTON
This is where she brings them. All the non believers.
Godfrey films the grave site.
An endless form of mangled bodies, both male and female, young and old are sculptured from stone.
They look lifelike, frozen with fear and horror.
The statues are endless under the moonlight all the way to the horizon.
ALSTON
Let's go.
Alston proceeds towards the statue grave site.
GODFREY
What... In there? You never mentioned going in there?
ALSTON
We have to prove this place exists.
GODFREY
Isn't this enough?
ALSTON
No. There's more.
Ext. grave site - nIGHT
Godfrey films the statues up close. He stays close behind Alston.
Alston holds onto a crystal and rubs it between his fingers as he stares.
ALSTON
Arch Angel Michael look over us please...
Godfrey
I've known you for twenty years and I let do your weird hippy shit. But this takes the cake.
ALSTON
Godfrey, just a little bit further.
They come to a stop at a -
BRICKED OUT HOLE in the ground.
Godfrey keeps filming but looks over to Alston.
GODFREY
What is this? A well?
Alston
I don't know what it is? These things seem to be everywhere across this land.
GODFREY
Who owns this land?
Alston shakes his head.
Alston
Don't know.
Something catches Alston's eyes. He walks over to a statue.
Alston
Noooo, she got to him too.
Godfrey follows Alston filming.
Alston points to the statue of THEO, mid twenties -
His sculptured clothes are half torn. His face is a sculptured crushed mess.
Alston weeps.
Alston
Why the hell did Dane want me to do this?
His attention falls to the well.
Alston
Did you hear that?
Godfrey walks closer to Theo while filming.
GoDFREY
I didn't hear anything.
Alston walks closer to the well -
- and looks down.
Godfrey zooms in on Theo's statue, staring through the monitor.
Theo's eyes are wide open.
Alston (off)
Oh god, she's here....
Godfrey jerks his head towards Alston.
Godfrey
Who is?
ALSTON
Her... Sin.
Theo's statue comes to life, shrieking and shaking.
Godfrey looks back at Theo to see -
this stone statue fight to come back to life.
Theo looks at Godfrey and gives an almighty scream.
Godfrey -
drops the video camera, stunned and utterly terrorfied.
Alston has proceeded to run.
AlsTON
Get out of here!
Godfrey notices -
every surrounding statue jerk and shake - trying move.
Then he notices -
what appears to be a snake slowly rising out of the well.
He stands there frozen.
Alston pushes his way past the statue corpses.
Some grab hold of his clothing, but he still manages to jerk away from them.
Ext. grave Site clearing - night
Alston catches his breath, ignoring the screaming corpses.
ALSTON
Goodfreeyyy!!!!
Through the mass of statues flies -
Godfrey landing in the clearing near Alston.
He looks up to Alston.
His face has been speared through the nose and upper lip. No blood appears though. His eyes are terrorfied.
Godfrey begins to convulse -
falls onto his back and proceeds to rip himself apart with his own hands.
Alston
Noooooo, stop!
Godfrey gurgles a noise.
POP!
His whole head rips open and unleashes spiders.
They proceed towards Alston.
Alston takes one last glance and notices -
Godfrey no longer has the video camera.
Alston
I'm so sorry....
ExT. outer grAVE SITe - NIGHT.
Alston races towards -
an old beat up station wagon -
and fumbles to find the keys.
INT. STATION WAGON - night.
Finally gets inside and kicks over the engine.
He looks once again at the grave.
EXT. OUTER GRAVE SITe - NIGHT.
Something large -
pushes its way through the statues towards his car at a tremendous speed.
Alston screeches the car and races off into the darkness.
Int. STATION wAGON - NIGHT.
Alston checks his review mirror to see -
a dark figure standing directly in the centre of a full moon, twirling two large swords.
Int. police Station corridor - night
DETECTIVES TRENT and WATKINS pace down a corridor towards the interview rooms.
Both men stop at a one way mirror.
On the other side sits Dane handcuffed sitting at a table with the Sergeant.
Dane has been cleaned up and showered, dressed in a prison jumpsuit.
Trent flicks over a clipboard.
Trent
He says his name is Dane Chesley. Twenty eight, no id, no fixed address.
WATKINS
Serg said he was screaming the name Alston. Anything on that yet?
TRENT
Still chasing that up. Hard to find any background on this guy.
Watkins nods to himself.
WatkiNS
Any survivors from the scene?
TRENT
None, but we have hundreds of witnesses.
Trent sighs as stops ponders over some photos.
TRENT
They haven't got the final count on the dead, but by christ I've never seen so much blood. Looks as if it was painted.
He offers to show the photo but Watkins doesn't bother.
Watkins
This is gonna be a long night, Be sure to get some coffee.
Watkins opens the door.
Int. Interview room - night
The Sergeant finishes setting up -
a VIDEO CAMERA.
Trent and Watkins walk in and drag over chairs to the table.
Watkins nods at the Sergeant and he leaves.
Trent
This is Detective Watkins and I'm Detective Trent.
Trent checks the video camera then nods to Watkins.
TRENT
Interview with suspect Dane Chesley on the eighteenth of March, two thousand and three with Detectives Trent and Watkins. Am I correct to hear that you waved your right to a lawyer?
Dane stares into nowhere.
DANE
Yes I did.
Trent
Can we ask why?
DANE
Because I don't need someone to lie for me, all I want to do is tell the truth.
Watkins
So you admit you gunned down close to thirty people?
DANE
Not people.... I don't know what they were. But they followed that priest.... Seldon.
Trent and Watkins glance at eachother.
wATKINS
They were innocent people! People with families. So don't pull this 'dazed and confused' bullshit on us! What, you pissed off at a girlfriend? Money problems, so you snapped? Is that it?
Dane slowly stares at Trent.
DANE
I uncovered the darkest threat to humanity and have lost all my friends along the way. That old woman was right all along.
WaTKINS
Was this one of the victims tonight?
DANE
No.... This was earlier. The night this whole nightmare started.
Ext. Crowley's nightclub - flashback - night
Crowley's nightclub is a rowdy place with all sorts of shady characters hanging around outside.
Dane walks outside with his arm around YASMIN, early twenties, cute brunette.
They're followed by DONALD and CHLOE, both in the twenties, then THEO, late twenties, confident and a loudmouth.
All of them are drunk and staggering, laughing.
Theo finishes a bottle of beer then throws it at the road.
SMASH!
THEO
There goes another week's paycheck down the drain!
They all laugh.
YASMIN
I can't believe you waste all your money each week like that?
THEO
So what? I enjoy myself don't I?
CHLOE
You can't party for the rest of your life.
THEO
I'm sure God has something special in store for me... 'Cause I'm an angel.
DANE
Pfft... You wish!
Theo staggers up to Dane and slips his arm around his shoulder.
THEO
Aha , the great Dane speaks!
DANE
Don't call me that.
Everyone laughs at Dane.
Theo
So we going back to Crowley's next week?
DANE
I don't know, that place is a bit dodgy! Everyone looks like they're ready for trouble!
THEO
But if you don't eyeball any dudes then you should be ok. Some of them carry guns in there! But I know most of the bouncers so it's cool!
Donald
Oooh connections!
Theo
Yep! Stick with me and I'll get you out of trouble!
Ext. main Street - flashback - niGHT
The group stop at a main street only to watch -
the last bus drive away.
No other traffic is on the road. Everything is dead quiet.
MRS. GRANT, late seventies, walks by her lonesome from the bus stop.
CHLOE
So are we waiting for a cab?
DoNALD
I won't be able to pay, I ain't got no money left.
Yasmin checks through her handbag.
YASMIN
Me either, not even a dollar to my name.
THeo
Dane's got the money for a cab.
Dane looks bewildered.
DAne
No man! I don't. You said you were going to fix up the ride home.
Theo
Well I used my last bit of cash inside the club. You ain't got any money?
Dane
No I don't! Fuck Theo you always pull shit like this, even back in high school!
Theo smirks to himself.
YasmIN
It's not funny. How we getting home?
Theo glances around the deserted street and notices -
Mrs. Grant.
THeo
What about her?
Dane
No .... We're not!
Theo
We just grab her handbag, take the cash and keep running. Two blocks from here there's a cab rank. There's gotta be some cabs waiting at this time of night.
Chloe
You want to mug an old lady?
Theo walks to Donald and Chloe reassuring like.
Theo
Not mug. It's just a simple snatch and grab. Grab the purse and drop the bag. Shit, we'll just take only twenty bucks!
Yasmin
You can't do something like that?
THeo
Tell that to your boyfriend when we did that before.
Yasmin looks at Dane.
Yasmin
You've mugged someone before?
Dane looks down without an answer.
Theo
I admit, it was several years ago and we were desperate. It wasn't for drugs or any shit like that!
DonalD
Well this seems like the same scenario...
Dane
We walk. Probably take an hour?
Theo
Fuck that! I gotta get up early for work, I want at least some sleep!
DAne
Doesn't she deserve something?
Theo
We're not going to kill her. We are just taking her bag, fuck Dane, get over yourself!
Yasmin starts to take off her high heels.
Yasmin
Okay, I'm in!
Dane
You can't be serious?
Yasmin
My feet are killing me Dane. I just want to get home. If my father finds out I'm this late, he will kill me.
Theo laughs as he gets his confidence.
Dane can't believe his ears.
Theo
Alright Yasmin! What about you two?
Chloe starts to take her shoes off as well.
Chloe
I swear I'm going to regret this!
Yasmin
Besides Dane you did it once before and got away with it. We're not going to hurt her.
Theo
Of course not! I'll do it, all you guys have to do is keep up.
Theo and Yasmin proceed to jog in the same direction as Mrs. Grant.
Theo
C'mon....
Chloe shrugs at Dane and follows. Donald stares at Dane.
Donald
Theo has always been a bad influence on all of us. What makes this any different?
He jogs after Chloe.
Dane slowly follows behind them.
Theo is in full speed charging behind Mrs. Grant.
POW!
He latches onto the strap of her handbag and continues onward.
The strap catches onto Mrs. Grant's shoulder and she crashes head first into the gutter.
Theo jolts backward onto his back, knocking the wind out of him.
Mrs. Grant moans in pain. Her face covered by her fragile arms.
The others catch up.
Yasmin
Jesus, Theo!
Theo
Grab the bag!
Donald helps up Theo and they start to jog away.
Dane stops at Mrs. Grant shocked.
Chloe
C'mon Get out of there!
Dane can't leave her face down in the gutter.
He leans down to at least help.
Mrs. Grant moans in repeated short bursts.
Dane slowly turns her around to see -
her forehead and nose bleeding. Her eyes are wide open -
the short bursts of moaning is actually her laughing quietly to herself.
She reaches out for Dane and he trips backward -
onto his rump in the gutter.
DANE
Christ!
Mrs. Grant's bony fingers smear blood across his face and mouth.
Dane staggers back on his hands.
She sits upright and gives an abnormal ear to ear grin revealing sharp teeth.
MRS. GRANT
You have committed to sin....
INT. INTERVIEW rOOM - NIGHT
Watkins wipes his nose.
wATKINS
Damn straight you committed a sin!
DANE
Not committed a sin, committed to sin! Like commitment to someone or something!
WATKINS
Maybe you misheard her?
Dane
I know what I heard.
WaTKINS
She committed you to sin?
DAne
I committed myself to sin. I know that now.
Ext. main Street - flashback - niGHT
Dane is suddenly lifted up and dragged away by Theo.
Theo
Why is it me who always gotta save your ass!
Dane keeps looking back over his shoulder at Mrs. Grant.
DANE
There's something wrong with that woman.
Theo
Fuck'n oath there is!
int. interview room - night
Trent glances quickly at Watkins and rubs his chin.
wATKINS
I don't have time for this shit!
tRENT
Tell us about Alston?
Dane is surprised.
TRENT
You were screaming that name when the officers found you.
wATKINS
What's his full name?
DANE
I don't know his full name! I never asked him! Alston was interested in us... in me.
WATKINS
Why?
DANE
'Cause he knew what was out there. I think he thought of me as some kind of answer.
Int. Theo's apartment - night
Alston -
races in and flicks on the light.
Theo's flat is an assortment of rubbish lying around. Magazines lay scattered here and there.
Along the walls are posters of different rap stars.
A pizza box with half eaten food scraps sits open on a coffee table.
Very little furniture is in the room.
Alston stands still for a moment -
his hands shake.
ALSTON
Gimme strength for Godfrey.
Int. Theo's apartment - bedroom - night
Alston flicks on a portable television set and boots up a computer.
A news report shows -
footage of ambulances and police trying to gain control of the massacre sight.
The walls of buildings are drenched in blood.
ALSTON
Dane, what did you do?
BEEP!
Alston flinches -
he hears a noise from the computer.
He sits down at a Theo's computer which is well equipped with a web cam.
The corner of the computer screen shows -
a little messenger window with a picture of a shadowed face. Underneath the face is the online nickname THE BELIEVERS.
THE BELIEVERS
Who's that?
ALSTON
Alston.
THE BELIEVERS
Where's Theo and Dane?
ALSTON
Theo is dead, he died last night... I don't know where Dane is right now. But I know he's not coming back.
THE BELIEVERS
So that leaves just you huh?
The Believers lets out a small laugh.
THE BELIEVERS
So you got the footage?
ALSTON
There's a problem. It was dropped at the site.
The Believers slams his computer.
Alston watches as the little messenger window rattles.
THE BELIEVERS
Well you gonna have to get it back! Don't let everyone's deaths be in vain old man!
ALSTON
Look at me you little shit! Everyone who was once here are now gone!
THE BELIEVERS
I got alot people who are interested in this and once you upload the proof, you will have exposed this to the whole world. Dane knew the risks involved. All you got to do is get that footage to me and I'll do the rest.
Alston
I'll get you the footage you little shit! Then you can see what this is all about!
THE BELIEVERS
You do that!
The window disappears from the monitor.
Int. INTERVIEW ROOM - NIGHT
Trent jots down info.
Dane keeps staring at the video camera.
WatkinS
I hope my kids don't grow up into assholes like you.
Trent gives a little laugh.
Watkins
So you left her in the gutter?
DaNE
I didn't want to do it!
WATKINS
But you did it anyway!
DANE
There was something wrong with her! Something not human. I couldn't get the vision of her out of my head.
TRENT
So why didn't you just go to the police then?
DAnE
I wanted to....
Ext. MOLAND Retirement villa - flashback - DAY
Moland Retirement home is a very prestigious villa.
A bright sunny day has RETIRED FOLKS taking strolls and simply enjoying themselves.
DANE (V.O.)
Even a few days later I kept thinking about her when I went to visit my grandmother.
Dane drives his car into the visitors car park.
Theo gets out of the car and throws on his sunglasses.
Theo
Damn man, you trying to make feel guilty for the other night?
Dane doesn't answer as he steps out.
THEO
It was a joke! She didn't get hurt! Just frightened a little.
DANE
I keep thinking that could've been my grandmother.
Theo
But it wasn't, how many times I have to mention that? Are you gonna be long?
DANE
No, just want to see how my grandmother is doing.
THEO
Want me to come along?
DANE
No. I want to keep her alive!
EXT. villa church - flashback - DAY
A small church on the grounds sits oddly by itself at the rear of the grounds.
It looks very old and in need of a paint.
A gentle breeze blows across the surface of a river alongside the church. The view is somewhat surreal to Theo.
A bell rings out and has retired folk making their way to church.
Alston -
wanders around the church pulling out weeds and dumping them into a garbage bag. He nods to each person as they wander inside the church.
Theo slowly proceeds to the church -
watching as the last of the retired folk go inside.
Alston disappears behind the church , ripping out more weeds.
Theo walks towards the entrance of the church.
He can hear strange chants, not hallelujahs, but more sporadic screams from both male and female voices inside.
Int. church - flashback - day
SELDON, mid seventies, is the church priest.
He holds a bible in one hand and a small cross in the other.
His eyes -
are closed with his head down and he doesn't speak.
The hand which holds the cross seems to bleed.
He begins to smile, just a normal happy smile.
The smile widens, revealing -
teeth as if he just heard a funny joke.
BAM!
The smile widens to an impossible length and his teeth into long fangs.
BANG!
Theo jumps back startled and knocks into a bench.
A hand -
quickly pulls him outside.
EXT. CHURCH -FLASHBACK -DAY
AlSTON
Can I help you?
Theo is confused.
THEO
I'm here with a friend.
SELDON
And who would that friend be?
Theo glances back at Seldon afraid.
Theo
Dane Chesley, he's visiting his grandmother.
SELDON
Then why are you here?
Theo
I'm waiting for him. Why is that against some retirement law?
Seldon takes a few steps closer.
ALSTON
Seldon forget it, these young punks are always making trouble. C'mon I'll show you where visitors are supposed to wait.
Alston quickly drags Theo away.
Seldon walks back inside the church.
Int. grandma chesley unit - flashback- day
Grandma Chesley's unit is very tidy and well kept. Ornaments of angels rest on top of a large television cabinet.
Along the top of the cabinet are several framed 8x10 photos of Dane with his MOTHER and FATHER. More framed photos show GRANDMA CHESLEY, mid seventies, hugging Dane.
All windows are open letting in sunshine.
The only thing out of place is a macabre abstract painting of what looks like a city painted in red. A dark large figure carries what looks like a helpless child. A crowd of people follow the large figure.
Dane sits opposite the painting confused and uncomfortable by it.
Grandma Chesley walks in carrying a tray of biscuits and coffee.
DANE
What's with that painting?
GRANDMA
Oh that, that's just something one of the ladies gave me. Why, you don't like it?
DANE
No ... It's not .... actually yes! Look around, everything is nice and bright except for that ghastly painting.
Grandma laughs aloud.
GraNDMA
Oh for pete's sake! It was given to me by Mrs. Grant, a lovely woman who passed away recently.
Grandma shakes her head.
GrANDMA
Terrible thing that! Sometimes Dane you remind me of your father! He was blunt like you at times.
DANE
Gran, I don't know, it looks weird and out of place.
He takes a sip from his coffee.
GrANDMA
Have you heard from your father?
Dane shakes his head.
GRANDMA
Neither have I. Strange thing that. It's like he disappeared off the planet.
DANE
It doesn't bother me now. He never got over mum dying of cancer. He use to take off for days on end. Looks like he just kept going this time!
Dane shrugs.
GrandMA
How's work?
DANE
Pretty quiet at the moment, a few of us have been told to take a week or two off. Makes it hard for surviving and paying bills.
GrANDMA
Do you need money? I have some kept away for emergencies....
DANE
Honestly I don't need anything. I just wanted to come by and see how you were doing.
He takes another sip of his coffee and eyes -
the painting.
Ext. MOLAND Retirement villa - flashback - DAY
Alston and Theo stop at the car park.
Theo
Listen man, I didn't need the escort back!
Alston looks carefully around.
ALSTON
I know what you saw, the weird smile, right?
Theo is shocked.
THEO
Yeah! What the fuck was the matter with that guy?
ALSTON
Ssshhhh. He's not the only one.
THEO
Everyone is a bunch of happy fuckers in here!
Alston
Shut up! Don't make it obvious that you know. You said you had a friend here, where is he?
Theo
Visiting his gran.
Theo pulls out a mobile and starts to punch away at the buttons.
Int. grandma chesley unit - flashback - day
Dane's mobile beeps. He searches his pockets and pulls it out and reads a text message.
It reads: CAN WE GET THE FUCK OUTTA HERE?
Dane sighs.
GRANDMA
Problem?
Dane
No, just my friend is waiting.
Dane stands up and gives Grandma a kiss on the cheek and heads for the door. He glances back at the painting.
DANE
You said Mrs. Grant passed away?
Grandma is lost in her own world.
GrANDMA
... Like she knew she was going to pass away and this was her gift.
Dane looks like he's seen a ghost.
He leaves.
Ext. MOLAND Retirement villa - flashback - DAY
Dane walks back to the car to see Alston and Theo.
Theo
Do you mind if we get going now? This place gives me the creeps.
Dane looks at Alston.
DAne
Has he done something wrong?
Alston offers his hand to Dane.
Alston
No nothing like that. Your visiting Mrs Chesley?
Dane
Yeah, she's my grandmother.
Alston
Alston.
They shake hands.
DAne
Dane Chesley.
Alston
Your grandmother is a lovely lady. She keeps to herself. I'm the grounds keeper here.
DANe
Did Theo do something wrong?
Theo
Oh yeah blame me. Why doesn't your new friend tell us what's going on here?
SELDON
Yes tell us what's going on here Alston?
Everyone turns to see Seldon walking towards them. He has a few MALE COMPANIONS behind him.
Seldon glances at Dane.
SELDON
And how's Mrs Chesley?
DANE
She's fine.
SelDON
She doesn't attend our little church here. Does she not believe?
Dane
Afraid she's from a family of atheists. It's in the blood.
Seldon smiles but not friendly like.
SELDON
And what about you Alston? A few of us are off to Moland Coffee Lounge. Care to join us?
Alston
There's still weeds to be cleared near the river gardens.
Seldon offers another wide sarcastic smile to Dane.
Theo slightly flinches.
SELDON
Weeds and atheists. It appears you two have alot in common. Say hello to that dear old lady for me.
Dane nods and watches as -
Seldon leaves with his companions.
Int. INTERVIEW ROOM - NIGHT
Dane sighs aloud.
DANE
Seldon was the reason I did it!
Trent and Watkins glance at eachother.
TRENT
Seldon the priest?
DANE
He was a priest, but not for God, that's for sure.
WATKINS
You killed a priest? God's gonna want a chunk of your ass!
DANE
He wasn't a priest. He was more like... a messenger of death. He's the one who sent Sin after us!
Ext. rear Alleyway - flashback - night
Donald parks his car in an alleyway. Appears alot of patrons have the same idea as there are quite a few cars trying to find parking.
Theo, Yasmin, Chloe and Dane wait for Donald.
Theo
Happy now that we got transport? Not going to have any problems like last week.
Dane
That's not funny.
Yasmin giggles to herself.
Donald locks the car and looks at his parking.
Donald
Hope no-one blocks us in.
Theo
Can we get in there already folks? Times a wasting!
They proceed to Crowley's entrance.
Int. nightclub - flashback - night
Inside Crowley's nightclub the energy is alive and loud. A hypnotic drum track has patrons packed on the dance floor moving in a fast rhythmic way.
Theo's eyes light up, he's at home with this nightlife.
Theo
I'll get the first round.
He disappears into the crowd.
Chloe gets in the mood and drags Donald onto the dance floor. He gives Dane the thumbs up.
Both Dane and Yasmin smirk at them.
Dane notices -
a COUPLE standing next to eachother on the dance floor both jerking their heads in a trance.
DAne
Look at that!
Yasmin begins to laugh.
Yasmin
Don't they know how stupid that looks?
Dane laughs as well but stops when he notices -
other people in the nightclub doing the same thing.
DAne
Everyone is doing it!
Theo comes back with their drinks and hands it to Yasmin and Dane.
Theo spots more people in a trance.
THEO
What's with everyone?
Dane
Something's up! This ain't normal!
INT. INTERVIEW ROOM - NIGHT
Dane goes silent in deep thought.
TRENT
So you saw people standing still, so what?
DANE
Half were standing still and half were dancing no-one knew what exactly they were doing until... Sin walked in.

Watkins is intrigued and leans closer to Dane.

Int. nightclub - flashback - night
DANE (V.O.)
Sin can only be described as ....
SMASH!
The doors of the nightclub burst open -
and in walks SIN, a twelve foot woman.
She wears a strange outfit consisting of an amazingly long leather dress, mixed with rusted barbed wire.
She has only just rotting flesh and teeth.
Her hair is incredibly thick black dreadlocks.
In each hand she holds large swords and uses them like two walking sticks.
DANE (v.O.)
...the fucking grim reapers wife!
The immediate crowd cower away from her and start to panic.
Sin assesses the area -
watching as her followers stand still in their trance.
More people notice her and start to make a break for it.
DANE
drops his drink as someone rushes by him.
Sin begins to scream and her hair comes alive -
changing into metre long snakes.
WHOOSH! WHOOSH!
She proceeds to perfectly swing the swords with amazing strength and -
hacks her way through the crowd, avoiding those who are meditating.
Theo
What the fuck is that?
A young COUPLE -
are stabbed through their heads with one sword and -
flung further into the crowd like rag dolls, knocking at least ten people over.
SMASH!
A tall BURLY MAN
smashes a bottle across Sin from behind, only to find himself too close.
Five snakes all at once -
- latch onto various parts of his face. He lets out an almighty scream and drops to the floor.
Dane grabs Yasmin and -
shoves his way to the back of the nightclub.
They bump into someone meditating and knock them over.
SIN's ATTENTION -
falls onto Dane and Yasmin -
but can't quite make it towards them fast enough.
SIN
twirls like a spinning top and slices through more people.
Off sprays of blood fill the darkened room as the only sounds of deafening screams can be heard.
TWO MEN charge at Sin, this time with handguns.
They fire at her without remorse.
BAM! BAM! BAM!
Bullets fly straight through her -
hitting innocent patrons trying to escape.
Across the floor -
hundreds of tarantulas scurry from under Sin's leather dress towards the men.
BAM! BAM! BAM! BAM!
The men fire at the spiders backing away but not quite fast enough as the spiders jump onto their bodies.
Sin lunges the swords at the distracted men -
one through the throat -
the other through the chest -
then throws both men at the DJ STAND.
The music has stopped -
absolutely everyone now knows there is something wrong happening in the club.
Sin flings herself onto the nightclub roof -
keeping herself balanced with her strength. She uses each sword again like walking sticks -
stabbing into the roof to move forward.
Her snake hair SNAPS.
Lights explode as she makes a clear path towards Dane and the gang.
Ext. rear Alleyway - flashback - night
CROWDS
race out the nightclub rear door, shoving and pushing eachother to break free.
Theo, Chloe and Donald push their way through the crowds.
Chloe looks around.
CHLOE
Where's Yasmin and Dane? Where are they?
Theo
I don't know! They were behind us!
Dane and Yasmin are the last to race out with two BOUNCERS, who proceed to close the double door exit behind them.
Yasmin
stops and looks back at the door.
Yasmin
What the hell was that?
DaNE
I don't know.
Theo grabs Dane.
THeo
What the fuck are you stopping for? Let's get out of here!
Dane
Yasmin, C'mon let's go.
Cars now have difficulty trying to leave as they crash and scrape their way past other vehicles.
Yasmin follows Dane and Theo -
SMASH!
A ten foot sword pierces through the double door exit -
and straight into Yasmin.
Yasmin screams as she stares down -
at the tip of the sword through her abdomen.
DANE and THEO
stop in their tracks shocked.
DAne
Nooooo!
Both bouncers watch in bewilderment.
SCRAPE!
The sword tilts up, lifting Yasmin -
off her feet and sliding her back towards the door.
She gives a penetrating scream of agony.
Theo quickly holds back Dane.
Dane
Noooo .... Yasmin!!! Oh my God! No! No!
BANG!
The double doors -
explode out -
knocking both bouncers to either side.
Sin proceeds to walk out into the alleyway, holding a limp Yasmin in the air with one extremely large sword.
Dane and Theo see -
how hideous Sin really is.
SCHWICK!
Sin quickly severs Yasmin completely in two -
- now magically holding two smaller swords -
holding Yasmin's lower torso with the left sword and her upper torso with the right sword.
Blood pours from the torsos.
Dane dry retches and keels over.
Theo drags him away.
DAne
Did you see that? Did you see that?
Theo spots -
Donald and Chloe already in the car waiting.
Theo
Start the fucking car!
SCREAMS
can be heard in the background as other people see Sin.
Int.car - flashback - night
Theo pushes Dane into the back and dives in behind him.
Donald has the car ready to go. He looks over his shoulder.
Donald
We're squashed in!
Theo
Get us the fuck 'outta here Don!
Donald can see -
Sin slowly walking towards them, carrying the two torsos of Yasmin.
Theo
Now Don! Get us out now!
Ext. rear Alleyway - flashback - night
SMASH!
Donald reverses the car and it slams into a parked sedan.
CRASH!
He punches it forward and hits a jeep.
SMASH!
Donald has completely wrecked the front of the sedan.
He reverses down the alleyway.
Int. car - flashback - night
Everyone is screaming at eachother.
Donald does his best to ignore it as he reverses.
Chloe
Oh my god, what is it doing now?
Everyone glances -
at Sin.
Ext. rear Alleyway - flashback - night
Sin gives an almighty scream and -
proceeds to twirl.
BOOM! BOOM!
Both parts of Yasmin's bodies are flung at the car at a tremendous speed.
Int/ext. car - flashback - night
Chloe watches in complete horror -
Yasmin's upper torso flying towards the windscreen.
DAne
Nooooo!
CRACK!
Yasmin's upper torso hits the windscreen.
Her eyes are still open.
Donald is speechless as the torso slips off the bonnet.
Dane finally does puke.
Int. Dane's apartment - flashback - niGHT
Dane's apartment is relatively clean. A large sofa, television, computer in one corner.
The group stagger.
Chloe sobs and is comforted by Donald who guides her to the sofa.
Theo follows them and heads to the kitchen.
Dane locks the door.
Theo comes back with a bottle of bourbon and offers it to Chloe.
DoNALD
Why did it kill Yasmin?
Theo
I don't know? I really don't!
Dane
It just tore her in half! How can that be possible?
Chloe
We should be going to the cops!
Dane stands up.
DoNALD
She's right! I mean that thing killed so many people in there! Yasmin was just another victim.
Dane
It was coming for us.
Everyone watches -
as Dane takes a swig from the bottle.

It killed people who were in the way.

I saw it with my own eyes. It didn't kill specific people, ones that were in that .... trance of some sort.

Dane walks into the bathroom and washes his face.

He drops next to the toilet and rests.

He passes out.

Trent gestures for Watkins and him to leave.
WATKINS
Just wait here kid.
InT. POLICE corridor - Night
They watch Dane through the one way mirror.
WATKINS
Is it a full moon this month or what?
TRENT
Rogers was in charge of the Crowley case?
WATKINS
His report said it was a lone lunatic who escaped from the Moland Asylum. They found him in a nearby alley impaled by the same sword.
Trent
What about this Yasmin?
WaTKINS
There was no mention of a woman cut in half. This guy sounds like he got the same story that the papers printed, adding his own flavour to it!
Int. Alston's bathroom - Night
Alston is weary and tired.
He washes his face and towels himself dry, stopping to stare at himself in the mirror.
Alston
Must persevere.
He checks his hands and watches -
them tremble slightly.
Opens the medicine cabinet and takes a Valium.
Closes the cabinet to see -
Seldon in the reflection standing behind him, mangled and bloody, his face full of bullet holes.
SELDON
Alllsstoonnn....
Alston yells and turns around only to see -
no Seldon behind him.
He glances back at the mirror to see -
Monster Seldon -
SMASH!
- diving through the mirror cabinet, shattered glass spraying everywhere -
his hands grasp Alston around the throat.
Alston dives backwards and hits the bathroom door.
Seldon
It's noooott overrrrrr yet!
Alston
God help meeeeee!
In a split second Seldon has disappeared.
The medicine cabinet is not smashed.
Alston breaths heavily.

Trent and Watkins re-enter the room and take their seats.

They got it wrong! I would've believed them, except the next day, I convinced everyone to come back to the retirement home...

Dane locks his car as Donald, Chloe and Theo wait.

Alston's apartment is a mixture of antique furniture. Incense sticks are lit up and smoke the main room.
Along one wall are pictures and newspaper clippings of angels and demons. A large wall map has a CIRCLED MARK around a certain area.
Godfrey sits on a single seater chair browsing over a book on mythology.
CLASH AND THE TITANS plays on a small television.

Is this what I got to look forward to when I retire?
Dane stares -
at the map on the wall.
Godfrey
And what were you expecting son?

Don't old people have real hobbies? Painting model aeroplanes, talking about the war? Shit like that!
Dane stops and examines a newspaper clipping that reads: MASSACRE AT NIGHTCLUB. FIFTEEN BUTCHERED BY MADMAN.

We were there last night! It wasn't a madman.
GODFREY
Article says the police captured the suspect. A tall six foot man with a sword.
Theo reads the article.
Theo
A six foot man? It was bigger than that!
DANE
And it wasn't a man. It looked more like.... that.

I wonder if that was the church Theo was talking about?
Chloe stares at the church.

Looks a little weird. Thought they would have a modern looking church.

Old and decrepit, just the people who visit it!
Chloe hits Donald on the arm.

They stop by the river and hold eachother.
The river is quite still and peaceful to gaze upon.
The CHURCH BELL rings out in the background and retired folk leave the church.
Some of them stop and stare at Donald and Chloe.
Donald suddenly notices -
something out in the middle of the river.
Donald
Can you see that?
He lets go of Chloe and takes a few steps closer to the river.
Chloe
What is it?
Donald shades his eyes to see -
A HAND
poking out of the river.
It starts to feel around the surface then suddenly pulls itself up.
A soaking CORPSE -
pulls itself out of the river as someone would from a bathtub.
DONALD
What the fuck?
Chloe covers her mouth and gives a low moan, taking a few steps back.
She turns around and can see -
the retired folk slowly making their way down to the river.
Chloe
Hey.... Hey there's someone out there! Hey...
Donald watches -
the corpse stagger from side to side making a bee line toward the shore -
walking on the river's surface.
There are at least fifteen retired folk now upon them.
Chloe
There's someone out there....
She notices something wrong with the people.
Their heads randomly begin to jerk from side to side.
SELDON
pushes his way through the crowd.
Donald turns around to see -
Seldon and the crowd.

He has long dirty finger nails and gives her a smile.
A very large evil grin.

He opens the door and in walks the Sergeant.

Dane is locked in small empty brick cell.
Dane lays down a simple bed and falls asleep facing the brick wall.
Int. police station - trent's office - Night
Trent wanders in with the video camera and tripod.
He sees Watkins sitting on his desk.
TRENT
What's up?
WATKINS
The boys downtown say he raked up forty. We know he did the crime, but we got no background on him. Don't you think that's weird?
TRENT
All we can do is check his story.
Watkins gives a little smirk to himself.

Funny how it coincides with that Crowley massacre. This Dane guy either is a brilliant bullshit artist....

Or he's telling the truth.

Dane
is pressed close up against the brick wall.
The sounds of WILD WIND BLOWING can be heard.
Dane opens his eyes and quickly sits up.
He's no longer in his cell, he sits at the bottom of an empty well.
The very walls from the well begin to slide out forming large BRICK STAIRS.
Dane proceeds up the stairs.
With each step the cracks begin to weep blood.
Spiders and snakes scurry and slither across each step.
Ext. grave sight - Night
Dane continues up the well -
to find himself in the grave sight.
Directly in front of him is -
Alston walking up stairs from another well.
DaNE
Alston!
Alston gives a sigh of relief.
Dane glances around.
Nothing seems to stir the stone statues.
DAne
Why are we back here?

I think I know. It's not finished.
Dane
What are you talking about? Did you take the footage?
Alston
I did, with Godfrey, but Sin got to him. The camera was dropped here somewhere.
Dane
You have to get the camera. Do as the plan.
Alston nods and checks his hands.
Dane
No Alston! This time you have the strength within you. I got rid of Seldon....
Alston
No you didn't! He's still around. He's not alive, but... he's not dead either.
Dane
Don't stay at the villa, they know now you were part of the plan. Stay at Theo's.

Dane, Alston and Theo wait by the car.

That monster you saw was traditionally one of three Gorgons. She's the only one who was given the gift of mortality. Her real name is Medusa and is personified as sin itself.

Because it's impossible! It used a sword to kill Yasmin. No-one turned to stone. It was like a lunatic on the loose.

But you did see snakes coming out of her head?

I ain't gonna believe that some century old Greek myth is alive and well and has a vendetta against us.

It's possible that she's an echo from the old Medusa being worshipped by a new legion of loyal followers.
Theo wonders for a moment.

That priest, Seldon. He brings in new believers....

The car reaches a crest. Thousands upon thousands of stone statues can be seen amongst the burnt wasteland.
ALSTON (V.O.)

The three of them walk amongst the statues.
Alston leans closer to Theo.
ALSTON
What were you saying about no-one turning to stone?
Theo doesn't answer.
Dane shakes his head in disbelief.

Alston
It's not on a map, there's no signs that lead here, no-one claims the land so nothing gets done about it.
Theo
What about from the sky, a plane flying overhead. There's gotta be something that someone has seen? A place like this doesn't go unnoticed!

But it has, for God knows how long?
Dane touches one of the statues and flinches back.
Theo

It's warm... Like it's still alive.
Dane glances at Alston.

Although, I've only heard of stories with Sin, never actually seen her, but you encountered her at that club and one of your friends is dead. Why did it choose your group?
Dane points to Theo.

Alston
Mrs. Grant? She passed away in hospital.
Theo

It does! Alston, we mugged her, we didn't mean for her to end up in hospital, but the whole thing went wrong and she fell over face first in the gutter.

Theo grabs Dane.

Dane and Theo walk inside Grandma Chesley's unit. It is dark with very little light.

He notices -
the framed family photos each have their glass cracked.
The photos are torn on the floor.

Theo keeps wandering around.
Dane walks closer to the painting.
It almost appears like a real image.

then sink further in, as if the image was a hologram.

Alston wanders around the grave sight trying to remember where Godfrey dropped the camera.
A strong wind blows around the statues.
Alston watches each one waiting for them to come alive at any moment.
He gestures to the ground, pointing left then right, then spots it in the distance.

He races for the camera and leans down to see it's still intact.
He looks up to see -
A CHILD STATUE peering down at him.
Alston dives up and yells.
The statue reaches out its hands trying to pleading with him.
CRASH! SMASH!
Something in the distance charges through the statues, smashing through them without remorse.
Alston -
staggers back.
SMASH!
Sin's large ten foot sword lunges through the child statue -
the very tip of the sword hits Alston in the chest -
- throwing him several feet back.
Alston's shirt has torn revealing -
the metal chest plate.
He watches as -
Sin makes a clearing, cutting cleanly through the stone statues.
They cower, unable to move, as if even after death they are still afraid of her.
Sin's snake hair hisses and snaps at him.
Alston jumps to his feet, still grasping the camera.
Sin lets out an almighty scream and proceeds to stomp towards Alston -
only to be suddenly held back by a stone version of Godfrey.
Alston races out of there.
SCHWICK!
Sin's ten foot sword is changed into two smaller swords.
She plunges one into Godfrey's statue then -
cuts the head off with the other.
Ext. OUTER GRAVE SIGHT - day
Alston jumps into the car and kicks the engine over, screeching away.
Sin
chases the car stabbing the two swords into the very road moving her at a tremendous speed.
Alston
Not this again!
CLANG!
Sin twirls, slapping the two swords into one -
slicing the ten foot sword overhead.
Int. STATION WAGON - DAY.
The blade cuts through the roof of the car -
- the rear windscreen -
- continues through the main chassis.
SMASH!
Alston cowers from the broken glass.
Ext. OUTER GRAVE SIGHT - DAY
The station wagon SQUEALS and ROCKS from side to side.
Alston regains control of the vehicle and guns it out of there.
Int. INTERVIEW ROOM - day
Trent unfolds a huge map, laying it out on the table.
Watkins
So where is it?
Dane studies the map.
Watkins
The retirement village is here.
He slams his finger down.
Dane follows from the starting point and slowly guides his finger along different roads.

Alston walks out into the lounge room, curious at what could be causing the scratching noise.
He peers through the keyhole then opens the door to see -

He keeps on firing at more and more MONSTERS.

Behind him -
walk at least thirty MONSTER SHOPPERS.
Their faces warped into the horrid grins.
As each new shot hits a target, that new MONSTER stands up to join the crowd.
Blood pours like an endless river down the walls of buildings as well as ....

and it soon becomes too difficult to tell the difference between monsters and real people.

In a split second the bedroom door is continuously pounded as the villa monsters try and break in.

A little bar at the bottom of the monitor indicates: 58%.

Fingers appear between the framework, pulling harder on the door.
Alston checks his hands and notices -

The door is opened wider and wider.
Faces appear, snarling.

Her size dwarfs all other monsters.

The CAPTAIN, early fifties, enters the corridor at the far end.
Trent nods to the Captain.
Trent
I'm telling the Captain that we agree on this matter.
Trent walks away.
The Sergeant walks out with Dane.
WatkinS
I 'aint fooled. You're not crazy.
Dane
I never said I was crazy.
WATKINS
You might have convinced Trent but not me.
DAne

The Seargeant drags Dane away.
Int. Interview room - Day
Watkins casually walks into the interview room and notices -
the video camera is still on.
He pushes stop and ejects the cassette, holding it in his hand.
Something is wrong.
He looks where the camera was facing.
DANE (V.O.)

throws the cassette at a wall.

All the cassette pieces scatter everywhere except for the actual tape itself.

Int. Corridor - day
Watkins races into the corridor.
The Sergeant and Dane are gone -
only Trent and the Captain are left still in mid conversation.
Watkins walks up to both of them.
The Captain stands to one side.
WATKINS
What's going on? We didn't record his confession?
Trent

The Captain gives an EVIL WIDE GRIN.
Ext. grave SITe - DAY
Sin walks amongst the grave sight carrying a statue.
She drops it down, twisting it further into the ground, then wanders away to a nearby well.
The statue is of Alston, his mouth agape.
He stands next to Theo, Donald, Chloe and Yasmin. Another win for Sin.
Int. Asylum - padded cell
Dane is clothed in a straight jacket and has been thrown in a cell with fellow PATIENTS.
A dingy small bulb flickers on and off, swinging to and fro.
Some of the patients have their hands free and make facial gestures.
Another PATIENT -
has torn their straight jacket into long shreds and dances with it on top of their head like long dreadlocks.
Dane -
sits in a corner shaking his head.
Dane

Some of the other patients join in chant like.
Dane
SHE DOES EXIST! SHE DOES EXIST!
Ext. Asylum. Night
A heavy thunder storm pounds down on the asylum.
DANE AND PATIENTS (OFF)
SHE DOES EXIST! SHE DOES EXIST!
