Thank you for completing the digital practices survey

Using the results from the survey, DOE has:

? Identified topics for online learning PD modules

o For example 77% of respondents identified Google Classroom as a tool being used, so a Google module was developed

? Contacted vendors to provide additional webinars support

o For example 44% selected IO Classroom so we have contacted them

? Adjusted strategy based on how many families are lacking internet at home

? Based on parent communication tools, we know which schools may need which guidance

? Based on schools that indicated they have no platform / vehicle to post online assignments, DOE is working to enable G suite / Google classroom for any school

Grade-Level Instructional Materials

The DOE has made grade-level instructional materials available in English in grades PK-12

? The materials are designed to provide supplementary learning resources to students in the event that a student needs to be home from school

? The materials include: ? Suggested daily study schedules ? Guides and materials for instructional activities ? Recommended educational television programming ? Links to a variety of books, magazines, and websites on a wide range of topics that appeal to children at all ages

In addition, we will be Centrally printing materials for every PK-5 student now and shipping to schools, starting the week of March 23rd:

? Schools will backpack these packets home so that in the event of school closure or a student needs to be out, they can reference them without the internet.

In the coming weeks, the DOE will be working to translate these materials and make them available online.

Supporting Individual Students

If a parent notifies the school that a student is quarantined or will be out of school for a period of 10 plus days, the school should reach out to parents to understand:

? Is the student able to do schoolwork?

? Does the parent have an internet enabled device at home that is available to the student? If so, what kind of device (e.g. smartphone, laptop, tablet, etc.)?

? Does the student utilize Assistive Technology?

? Is the parent aware of any materials that the student requires for learning that is not at home? (e.g. audio/visual/tactile supports)

? Does the school have accurate contact information on file for the student, including home address?

Supporting Individual Students ? Organizing Materials

To the extent possible the school should make an effort to provide the student instructional materials related to their classwork

? In the event that a student is at home, the impacted teachers can use one of the contracted time periods, ? 80-minute Monday Professional Development period, the 40-minute Tuesday Parent/Family Engagement time, or the 35-minute Tuesday Other Professional Work, time to organize instructional materials to provide to affected students ? If a school has an SBO related to this time, the school would work to identify planning time within the SBO structure. ? Multi-session schools can use grade level or department level, or other collaborative meeting times to organize materials.

If not possible the school should share the DOE's general grade-level instructional materials now available online

Supporting Individual Students ? Distributing Materials

? If the school has a platform (e.g. Blackboard, Google Classroom, etc.), the school should confirm with the parent that the family has a log-in and has access at home. If they do, the school can share information through that platform

? If the school does not have a platform or if the family does not have access to the platform, the school should mail home materials to students

? If schools are experiencing hardships in mailing materials home to families, they should escalate their concerns to their Superintendent Teams. Superintendents should coordinate with their BCO in proactively developing a response plan in the event a school is experiencing challenges.
