We want to congratulate the Class of 2017 Student-Athletes on their accomplishments while here at Father Gabriel Richard! Below is a recap of the highlights, honors and awards from the 2017 Senior Athletic Awards Banquet that was held on Sunday, May 21, 2017.

We had 50 male athletes (72% of the males in the class) and 36 female athletes (55% of the females in the class), 86 out of the 134 students of the senior class (65% of the class were members of a one or more of our teams this year)!

8 MHSAA Scholar-Athlete Nominees:

These athletes had to possess a 3.5 GPA or higher. They too were selected not just on their GPA but on their athletic achievements, service to their school, community and others, as well as the quality of their essay on what sportsmanship means to them. This year’s nominees are:

Jack Gaderick, Nick Kirkpatrick, Brendan Magolan, Will Overland, Colleen O’Leary, Jordan Zauel, Jesse Fannon and Emma Nowk.

Note: Emma Nowak won this award and was one of 32 winners across thousands of applications received across the state. She is FGR’s 6th finalist and 2nd winner in FGR history.

21 Catholic League Scholar-Athlete Nominees:

These individuals maintained a 3.2 GPA or higher and were nominated by their coach to represent their program as FGR’s Scholar-Athlete nominee for the league. This nomination isn’t based just on academics but also on the athlete’s athletic achievements and service to their school, community and others. On Monday, June 5th these nominees will find out who will win for each sport out of all the Catholic League schools. Good luck athletes!
