I look forward to working with you and your students during the 2014/2015 school year. If you have any concerns or questions, please call me at 777-4251, Ext. 6101. My email address is: hscholz@g-.Language acquisition depends a great deal on interaction between instructor and student; therefore, active participation in all oral and written exercises is of utmost importance. Regular attendance is also an important factor.I am adhering to the following procedures in my classes:Daily work: When a student is present and chooses not to turn in his/her assignment, it may be accepted the next day with the highest possible grade of 90, when he/she had been working diligently during class. After that the grade will be reduced 10 points daily. If not turned in after the 4th day, the grade will become a 0.Tests and quizzes: students making a 70 or below on any test or quiz, may retest in a timely manner, i.e.3 days after the original test. It is the student’s responsibility to take advantage of this opportunity by attending tutorials and scheduling re-test. If tests, quizzes are not made up after the appropriate number of days, the grade will become a 0.Test grades showing up in Skyward as 0 are a reminder to me that the test will still have to be taken or graded.Absences: Tests, quizzes, and daily work missed due to absences can only be administered before (or after school by appointment). It is the student’s responsibility to ask for make-up work and/or tests. Class Rules:1. Act in a way that will not prevent me from teaching you or keep others from learning.2. Respect yourself, others and the school.Evaluation: 1. Daily Work 30%2. Homework 20%3. Tests/projects 30%4. Quizzes 20%Participation: 1. Use of German in the classroom 2. Willingness to discuss, answer questions, recite, etc. 3. Cooperative effort in groups 4. Positive contributions dealing with anything German ( such as comments, pictures, newspaper/magazine/internet articles, books, music, etc.)Other: I require the students to keep a note book. This must be the bound composition book. These books will be checked and graded periodically (Daily work) for completeness, accuracy and neatness. Please come and visit the class room at any time. My conference period is during first period this year.I am looking forward to teaching your student(s).Sincerely, acknowledgementI have read the information on the previous page concerning requirements in Frau Scholz’ classes:Date: __________________Signature of Student: _________________________________________Signature of Parent: ___________________________________________Parent’s e-mail address: _________________________________________Parent’s telephone number: ___________________Comments: ................
