Job Purpose

The Data Scientist’s primary function is to provide support to the management team by analysing company data and providing factual insight into the results. Quantitative data will be gathered using data mining methodologies (including text mining and forecasting) and then used to provide predictive model

Main Duties

The role holder will act as an established point of contact for department managers from all areas of the business. They will proactively work to build up knowledge of the data held and it’s structure across various systems.

Other duties include:

• Mining of data to generate the foundation required for modelling and reporting tasks.

• Validation of data provided in reports.

• Develop and maintain predictive models as required by the needs of the business.

• Assisting with the identification of service areas for improvement through the use of data.

• Investigate and make recommendations for use of new techniques and systems to improve service.

• Investigate internal and external data sources to generate additional value for the business

• Liaise with stakeholders in other departments to ensure their analytical needs are fully met

Experience and Qualifications

Desirable:

• Previous experience using analytical software (SAS skills preferred but not essential).

• Experience of working in financial services.

• Adaptable communication skills and comfortable in dealing with senior level management.

Essential:

• Excellent numerical ability.

• Educated to degree level (preferably in Maths or Statistics).

• Highly analytical.
