This is universal truth. You were born with a sinful ...

This is the reason why Jesus was born to die. God created a perfect world; sin and death entered the world through Adam; now Jesus has come and won the victory over death through his resurrection (1 Pet 1:3–5). One day he will return, and there will be a new heavens and a new earth, perfect like it was in the beginning, with eternal life for all who believe: “Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on him.” (Jn 3:36).

Eternal life in a perfect new heavens and earth cannot be earned by “good deeds” or through any “church”; rather, it is a gift that is received through faith: “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast” (Eph 2:8-9). The most wonderful gift anyone may receive is the free gift of salvation in Christ: “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Rom 6:23). Gifts are not earned, they are simply received. Are you willing to turn from your sin and receive the gift of eternal life?

OME 2,000 years ago a young man named Joseph made his way to Bethlehem to register for a census that Caesar Augustus had ordered. “He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.” (Luke 2:5-7).

This child was no ordinary child. Supernaturally conceived by the Holy Spirit of God (Matt 1:20), he fulfilled centuries-old prophecy – “Therefore the LORD himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son…” (Isaiah 7:14). He was destined to change the course of history – the whole world still marks each passing year with reference to his birth.

But why was Jesus born to die?
