Cathedral High School

October 17, 2007

Dear Cathedral Parents,

Through some suggestions from our Cathedral Mother’s Club we now have a Cathedral Feedback form on our website! This is a means of communication in which anyone who is on our website can email comments to anyone on my Principal’s Leadership Team (Tom Greer, Denise Farrell, Terry L. Fox or me). There is also a location at this site to contact our Chief Information Officer, Rolly Landeros. This is a quick way for anyone to email us with information you would like to share with us which can be anonymous if you wish. There are several places on our website that you can access this service. If you would like to check this out please click on the link below or this Cathedral Feedback Form is easy to locate on our webpage.

This is just a reminder that report cards will be available in the Academic Affairs Office on Friday, October 19th from 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. At 5:00 p.m., they will be mailed home to you.

Senior Parents: Thursday, October 18th is the day that seniors will be attending the Indiana Repertory Theatre in two different groups. This is one of their first Senior Class activities. We ask students to carpool, meet at the Theatre, attend the performance, after which they are dismissed for the day. You will be receiving a letter from Mrs. Kathy Keyes, Senior Class Moderator, asking that you assist your senior in selecting appropriate dress for the play. Because the students represent Cathedral High School, we require them to be on their best behavior. We ask young men to wear shirts and ties and dress pants. Young ladies may wear appropriate length dresses or skirts or dress pants. No students should wear jeans. We appreciate your support in this area.

Athletics:

Volleyball: This week Cathedral is hosting our Volleyball Sectional.  The first match will pit the Lady Irish against Lawrence North on Tuesday at 7:00 PM.  The sectional semi-finals will be at 11:00AM on Saturday morning followed by the Championship match here on Saturday at 7:00PM. All matches will be played in the Welch Activity Center.  Season tickets (admission for all matches) are on sale in the Athletic Office for $8.00.  Individual match tickets are also on sale for $5.00.  Let’s support our Lady Irish volleyball team in their quest for another sectional title!  No passes are valid for sectionals.

• Last Night’s Girls Volleyball: Our #1 state-ranked volleyball team prevailed in a marathon sectional match against #8 Lawrence North held last night in front of a standing room only crowd in the Welch Activity Center. The Irish held a two game advantage (25-13, 25-20), but the Wildcats rallied to win games three and four (25-18, 25-23) to set up the decisive 5th and final game. The Wildcats stormed back from a 14-11 deficit to take the lead, but the Irish stepped up in true championship fashion as they fought off two LN match points to win the final game 18-16. Key blocks by Lauren Dedinsky and Mary Ording as well as aggressive serving by Jenna Queally late in the game shifted the momentum back in favor of the Irish. Caroline Lemke closed out the match with back-to-back kills as the Irish recorded its 25th consecutive victory to improve its record to 31-2. The Irish will host Lawrence Central in the semi-finals of the sectional this Saturday @ 11:00 am. The sectional championship match will be played at 7:00 pm Saturday evening in the Welch Activity Center. Congratulations ladies on a well-deserved victory and best of luck the remainder of the tournament!

Football: Your Fighting Irish football team takes on the Roncalli Rebels in their first sectional game this Friday at 7:00 PM at Arsenal Tech H.S.  Tickets for the game will be sold in the Athletic Office starting Wednesday at noon and will be sold until 3:00pm on Friday.  The ticket price is $5.00 and no passes are valid for post-season play.  GO IRISH!
