DB2 Personal Edition V8.2 Setup

Note: You cannot use ghosting or disk imaging to install this software. You must install the software on each machine separately.

1. Login as the administrator or with a user with administration privileges.

2. Unzip WIN_V822_PE_x86.zip from the CD to a directory DB2setup on your local hard drive.

3. After the extraction, the folder X:\DB2setup\PE\image will be created. (please substitute X with the appropriate driver letter on the local machine)

4. Go into the directory X:\DB2setup\PE\image and run setup.exe.

5. Press on the Install Product at the first screen.

6. Select DB2 UDB Personal Edition and press Next.

7. Wait while DB2 prepares the setup. At the first screen of the DB2 setup press Next.

8. Accept the terms of the license and press Next.

9. Select the typical install and press Next.

10. Change the default directory to C:\Program Files\SQLLIB and press Next.

11. Enter wasadmin for the username and password. Press Next. Press Yes if asked to create the user.

12. Press Next to accept the defaults under the administrative contact lists.

13. Press OK to pass through the warning screen.

14. Press Next to accept the defaults under the configure DB2 instances.

15. Press Next to accept the defaults for the DB2 tools catalog.

16. Enter any name and email and press Next.

17. Press Install to start installing.

18. Wait a bit while the software installs. Press Finish when the software installation is complete.

19. Click No, when asked for product updates.

[pic]

20. Restart the computer and login as wasadmin with password wasadmin.

IMPORTANT: You must restart your computer, even if the wasadmin user was already created.

21. First Steps should automatically appear and if it does not you can find it under Start->Programs->IBM DB2->Set-up tools->First Steps.

22. Press on Create Sample Database in the First Steps window.

23. Check the DB2 UDB Sample and press OK. Wait a bit while it creates the database.

24. When the sample database is finished. Press OK.

VERIFICATION

25. Now to open a command line processor and test the database select Start->Programs->IBM DB2->Command Line Tools->Command Line Processor.

26. At the DB2 prompt type:

db2=>connect to sample

db2=>select * from employee

27. Make sure you see the screen below displaying all the information in the employee table.

28. Close all.
